because humans need companionship, whether it's sexual or not. some of them don't need very much of it, but almost everybody needs at least a bit. if you're alone, then you need to either make some friends, or make your alone time as fun/rewarding/fulfilling as possible to distract from the emptiness.

even online friendships aren't necessarily enough. lack of adequate skin contact is bad for you. look up skin hunger. people need touch. babies can actually die if they are not touched or held enough, even if all their other needs are met.
