>about to go to college
>free wifi in dorms
>just plug hdmi cord into wall for magic wizard shit
>buy hdmi cord for laptop
>realize i need wifi for phone and tv
>go out and buy router
>look online and says i need modem
>wtf is a modem?

do i need this for wireless interwebs? What do i do? I dont want to spend a shit ton for a modem. I havent opened the box yet so i can always just return it

If you already have a ethernet socket on the wall, you don't need a modem, only a routeur. Just plug it, and plug your laptop on it, easy.
