I bought a smoking pipe in a cigar store in Prague together with a batch of tobacco, but I am concerned about the chemicals modern day tobacco contains. Which common plants could I smoke? I have some kind of organic garden at home where I grow vegetables from Europe and Asia, so I'd like to know which ones aren't disgusting to smoke. Also, I will not purchase or smoke cannabis or anything illegal in EU.

Smoke in your lungs is always harmful, its not just because of the tobacco plant, it the burning matter aswell

I realize that smoking anything creates tar, I'm convinced that modern tobacco growing techniques make it really really harmful.

Mint, lemongrass and sage, green tea, chamomile (kind of harsh). What's an herb you like the fragrance of? Try smoking that. You can in fact get a slight caffeine buzz from smoking tea, a slight sedative effect from chamomile, and so on, although it's so mild that it's hard to distinguish from a simple placebo effect.
Like the anon above said, this really isn't going to be much better for you than smoking tobacco. Granted you're not getting any nicotine, which is physiologically addictive, so there's that, but it's mainly not the nicotine that causes cancer and so on, it's the fact that you're inhaling a lot of burnt plant material, which is just bad news. Honestly, healthwise you'd be better off with an ecig, whether you fill it with the goop that contains nicotine or not. You're worrying about the wrong shit.

I have an e-cigarette, but it broke and the one I have is really bad, just plain annoying. I am not addicted to anything, I just want to smoke for the aroma and I like the smokey effect.

I'm not judging you, dude. I used to smoke various types of teas & herbs pretty regularly. Not that I thought they were any more healthy than tobacco, honestly I just liked the taste and smell more, plus I always had interesting stuff just sitting there in the cupboard. What exactly are you growing in your garden? Anything in the mint family, or sage?
