Alright /adv/, let's talk scholarships.
How easy are they to get? Where can you get them? How much can one expect to get with a certain GPA? What kind of skills are useful for obtaining scholarships?

What state are you in? Some states like Georgia have scholarships that everyone can get if they meet certain requirements.

Being a minority even with average grades is already a huge leg up, scholarships should be very easy to come by

I live in GA. Are you talking about Hope or is there something else I don't know about?
Well OP, I had a lot against me and was only eligible for a handful of scholarships: I'm white, parents made 80k+, plus all of my parents and grandparents have degrees (AKA I'm not a first generation college student). I spent my free time in high school playing video games and browsing the Internet so I didn't have much to speak of in terms of extracurriculars and volunteering. With all that said, I got a free ride for my two years at a local community college because my GPA exceeded 3.50. Still got that university debt though boyeeeee
I used College Greenlight to track and organize scholarships that I was eligible for. Google around, you'll be surprised how many smaller, lesser-known scholarships you can find. Anything about you that's different? Minority race or sexuality, unique extracurricular, non-standard family situation (adoption, foster, etc.)? Include that in your search terms. When I was thinking of pursuing STEM as a female, there were a lot of them available for that specifically. Plus, go to your high school and ask the appropriate people about what's available to you. That's how I found out about the community college one. Also I hope you know how to write because a lot of them require essays.
If you are not white or Asian, you can get a scholarship with little effort
