I honestly don't know what to tell you. It's kind of like being motivated. You either are or you're not.

Even as a kid when I got bullied, I never gave in and never gave up and I always fought back. It's just a part of your nature. Maybe you're low in the testosterone department? You can try getting checked for that.

You kind of have to be successful to stay assertive.

For example, you have probably been at your job a while, you could switch, but it's also a risk, and you are getting old, and what if things get worse...and that's how you become a pussy.

tl;dr: Be good at life and you can be assertive.

Being young = backup chances. But so does money, being damn good at what you do, etc.
