When in doubt about ANYTHING, ask someone. There will be all sorts of unofficial House Rules, so before you do anything (laundry, cooking, music, guests, smoking, whatever) the first time, ask a housemate if it's OK or if there are set hours or whatever.

Depends on the rules, ask around but there shouldnt be an issue, everything is ok within reason, if you bring a few friends around no one will bat an eye, but if they stay late while others are sleeping and make noise its not ok, think about stuff, the answers should be pretty obvious
