If you're not in any immediate harm and facing a (presumably) smaller human, punching is not self defence, it's revenge. As soon as someone takes part in this type of behaviour they are no longer a victim and I believe they should face similar charges to the assailant. Pushing is a defensive tactic, and usually the only one necessary; or are you scared of the big, bad woman? If you're going to advocate for punching, don't lie and say it's self defence.
