I've been attempting guitar on my own for about a year, and I'm like bad but not completely awful I think. I dunno how to just start singing and stuff on my own the way I've started playing, I've tried recording myself but it seems so cringey

Recording yourself singing is pretty crucial man. I've been doing it for about 9 years since I was about 13 and have gotten pretty damn good. You're most likely gonna sound like shit at first but just keep at it. Learn about diaphragm support and breath control. Playing guitar helped me a lot too because it gave me something to stay in key with until eventually I could sing in key acapella from muscle memory.
