I sleep all day and I'm awake all night. I have tried to turn this around for the last 10 years (I'm 25), but to no avail.
If I manage, I still am tired and groggy all day until I turn the cycle again.
I fall asleep around 7-8 in the morning and wake up around 4 or 5 in the day.

I have tried everything and the longest I could last with a normal circadian rhythm is two months before having one day where I go to bed a little later than 1am and the whole thing fucks up back to how it used to be.

I cannot function in this world. This sleeping pattern fucks up everything, and I mean EVERYTHING! From eating disorders (skeleton) to relationships to general feeling of doom.

You probably will ask if I'm depressed and I am but it has come to the point that it's a passive feeling that I have learned to live with.

You are my last hope, /adv/. What do?

Getting a job or leave your house

Get a routine back into your life. You are in a bad way but its up to you to make that change.

Go into education, sign up to a course, engage with your family. Also get off the computer. Its a vicious circle, as you feel depressed the more you will want to escape and the worse routine.

Also work on eating more. That helps a lot with your mental well being. Finally if you do, stop masturbating and looking at porn. Its not good for you energy wise.

>getting a job
No one wants to hire me, and no one (not even close friends) dare tell me the reason. I feel I look presentable when searching for a job.
I go to college, but I usually stay up all night - go to class and then go to bed.
>leave your house
No job so I'm broke.

The computer, I could agree with. The pornviewing is a rare happening with me. I have a GF but will soon lose her cause we never see each other..

What caused this or why have you become in this state? You have a gf so I dont think you are quite as bad as you may think.

Hygiene may be a reason and I feel that your friends are being nice over that or maybe your mindset makes it difficult to be social with? There isnt much else I can say, a lot of stuff here is purely based on personal accounts via text and thats hard to work of.

The important bit is this: taking that first step. Thinking and ponderinf gelps but only so much.

My mindset is the reason I got a girlfriend as hot as the one I have (in all ways hot) but people keep telling me I look like a thug/shady while I'm the nicest and most non-confronting person there is.
I'll look more into hygiene, you might be right, but I doubt that's the whole thing.

Any of you have any experience with sleeping medication?
My first experience:
>doctor prescribes pills
>take one, immediately knocked out
>2-3 hour nightmare that lasted real-time and I knew it was a nightmare all along but couldn't get out. Wake all night, tossed pills.
Second:
>neighbor has "sleeping pills"
>turns out they are schizo pills
>btfo 12 hours, wake up completely lobotomized
>had shit to do that day, couldn't even talk or form a sentence in my head
Third:
>parents got sleeping pills they will absolutely not share
>so I take 3 cause the package says one
>no effect, top fragger cs:go all night

I don't mean to sound harsh but you're not some special nocturnal snowflake dude. You can readjust and function during the day just like everybody else. Difficult to do after 10 years of living like that? Sure. But not fucking impossible.

Just decide. Decide you're gonna change and how it's gonna be. Set non-negotiables like:

1. All lights off at midnight. ALL. Pitch black darkness in your room. Then lie there awake in bed until you fall asleep. It might take hours. You might be bored out of your mind and starving. But you know what? I guarantee you'll fall asleep at least an hour earlier than usual on that first night.

I could go on to some more useful ones because I'm someone who's done this, but I don't want to risk wasting my breath. You already know what you need to do dude. Wake up at 8-9 no matter what even if you've only gotten 45 minutes of sleep and power through the day, etc. etc. Don't worry about the fact that one night staying up past your bed time will ruin you. That already a loser's mindset. Just take it one day at a time and good luck, I wish ya the best.

Double-posting to say see, that's the shit I'm talking about right there. You're not even trying. Your ass is on the computer having fun when you should be in bed. In bed and wide-awake/bored out of your mind, sure, but nevertheless sending your body and brain the message: "this is how it's going to be, so get used to it."

Sorry for getting pissy but this is ALWAYS the trickle truth that comes out when people complain about sleeping problems, and now I'm left feeling like an idiot for investing time out of my day to offer you advice.

>So what were you doing at 3 AM when you WISH you could have been sleeping? >"Playing adrenaline-inducing video games in front of a blinding white LED screen."
Oh. Hmm. Wow. Yeah man, that's absolutely crazy that the whole sleeping thing is working out for you. I guess some people are just noctornal, ya know?

Fuck you dude.

Thanks guy, I guess this is what I need to stick to. The hardest part is waking up and "that other guy not me" making a thousand excuses as to why not get up.

Thanks for your time and advice <3

>The hardest part is waking up and "that other guy not me" making a thousand excuses as to why not get up.

I put my phone in a metal box full of change across the room and set the alarm to max sound+vibrate. Every day I wake up like "the fuck is that?!" to the noise of grinding metal...just in time to hear an ear-splitting old timey telephone sound hit me at full force.

It's like a double punch to my soul that spooks the shit out of me every time and sends me running to the box to make it stop.

After that, that other guy can only try to make excuses to *go back to bed,* so I make the bed instead and jump into my day.
