I really need to get my life started. I'm 25, live at home, and am a bartender. I have approximately $1,500 saved up, and my only previous experience is in retail/customer service.
Some people have suggested that I go work for a bank, for the benefits and advancement possibility. You guys got any suggestions?

which is?
Take up an apprenticeship. Electrician pays a lot. No experience for some, they teach you. Sometimes you gotta buy your own tools, but you got money for that.

Go back to school and learn a trade - if you need money, stick with your bartending for now and do schooling gradually. The best thing you can do is to not lose hope that you'll get yourself somewhere.

Working in a bank is kind of the best version of retail in terms of advancement, and "respectability."
The hours are also normal and steady, which can be nice.
What do you like to do? Do you like things about being a bartender?
