I told them both I wasnt going to stop and that I didn't appreciate them trying to control me or guilt trip me when I declined. My bf apologized, stopped the behavior, and we moved on. We got better at communicating too. With my "friend" he stopped talking to me. After a couple yrs, my "friend" contacted me again to catch up. Turns out he started smoking weed. He never apologized and after a few weeks tried controlling my behavior again (didnt want me to play multiplayer games without him) so I dropped him.

Japan has a big misunderstanding with weed, and probably one of the biggest problems with alcoholism as a country. But they have great public transit, easy places to stay overnight for cheap or free, and rarely get violent. All of my friends that moved there still smoke weed and their Japanese friends either come to accept it or just don't hang out.
