Any tinnitus sufferers here? I've had it very mild for about 8 ears until a few days where it got louder due to acoustic shock. Ive been pretty depressed for the last few says, no appetite, no desire to anything I like to to do, cant even jack off. Tryinf to habituate to a sound level sucks.

Go to a doctor if you haven't already. There are ways to fix this.

I've had it since I was 12, and I'm 26 now. I can't remember what silence sounds like. I'm used to it by now and it's just part of my normal state of being.

not if it results from aural shock

there isn't actually a sure way to treat tinnitus and you might be encouraging OP to embark on a long, expensive journey bouncing from doctor to doctor that may be ultimately fruitless

Find a cognitive behavior therapist who specializes in tinnitus treatment. There is no cure but you can learn to cope and live a normal life again.

The best advice I've found online is usually in forums where people work in the audio industry. Tinnitus forums are full of people who are scared. Audio forums (DJs, sound guys, composers, etc...) know that tinnitus is a big risk for their profession and do their best to overcome and deal with it. Their forums are hopeful.

Mine finally calmed down and I can only hear it when everything else is quiet which is great for life but makes falling asleep hard. I use guided meditations and space music (Stellardrone) to fall asleep.
