I graduated high school in 2010. It's been 6 years and I'm only just now starting college and having a weird panic over it, realizing it'll be the start of the next decade when I actually graduate.

Has anyone else here gone to college after several gap years of shitty mcjobs and NEETdom? Advice?

I have a friend who's 39 and only just getting a degree. There's no point in panicking about it, because you've got to do what you've got to do

Professor writing here.

College isn't just for 18 year olds any more. More and more people are doing what you're doing - realizing they weren't ready for univerdity at 18 but now ready. In many universities 25-50% of undergraduates are your age or older.

So you won't be unique or even anything unusual. And my experience is that older students are always the best, just because they're more focused and motivated.

27 here and another year until I graduate.

My entire group for projects are all non-traditional students, as well.

Pretty similar situation to mine. It helped that people couldn't tell I was an older student. Yes, it makes you realize you wasted your life but better late than never, and hopefully you take things seriously now.

I'm 23, started a career in the trades here in canada to pay for my way through university. I'll be 24 when I finally go.
