How do I keep my shit together for long enough to get to a shrink when it's been fucking months since I was promised one and fucking nothing has happened?

Why is it taking so long to see a psych doctor if you really need one, OP?! You may want to switch whatever is holding you back (doctor's office, insurance plan, etc.). Try to find someone else to talk to in the meantime...there are hotlines out there, or maybe talk to a priest or someone who can just listen objectively and may be able to advise you. GL!

I'm being held back by their lack of resources. The funds for out glorious socialist welfare state's public health care are being cut because the gap between the rich and the poor isn't large enough.

I am currently trying to figure out who else to go talk to, so far 4chan is being my best option. I'm not religious, and protestants don't do this "confessional box" thing and I don't think a priest would support my life choice of being a tranny disaster anyhow.

Lemme guess, it's the anon who needs a shrink for working through self-harm issues and signing off on HRT?

My suggestions are to start with standard coping mechanisms: exercise is a good replacement for self-harm since it also hurts and releases endorphins, but on the plus side actually helps your health and you can show off the results more easily.
Doing that right now myself, exhausted today. Probably going to wake up feeling like i got hit by a bus again.

There's also meditation, works for some people. And CBT programs you can try online, also works for some.
People who respond to one usually respond to the other too.

After that, there's more maladaptive coping, like workaholism and alcoholism.

Then there's over-the-counter and legal drugs, we'll get to that if you've exhausted the above.

Yeah.

I do fairly physical work, and working out hard enough on my freetime to do damage would just make me miserable and inefficient at work. Meditation makes everything 100% worse. I've got several ugly scars from times I've tried to soothe myself with meditating and the opposite happened.

What are the legal over-the-counter drugs and why isn't everyone abusing them?

>Meditation makes everything 100% worse.
Same here.

>What are the legal over-the-counter drugs
Depends a lot on the country you're in: the laws are different everywhere.
Also depends on how much law-breaking you're willing to do.
eg in russia you can get all kinds of hard shit OTC at pharmacies since nobody cares about the laws, in the US you can get non-marketed non-scheduled pharmaceuticals shipped from overseas legally (they're legal to buy within the US, but not to sell), etc.

>why isn't everyone abusing them?
Mostly because people who abuse drugs are typically idiots who do it because their idiot friends do it. And their idiot friends just do weed, coke, and meth, not pharmaceuticals and experimental meds.

Basically you want to start with simple problems to limit scope: what's your biggest issue with day-to-day functioning?

I'm from Finland. I'm not sure about the specific laws but most of out legal systems are hell-bent on prolonging human life above and beyond any necessity while simultaneously ensuring that the life offered won't be worth living.

My former weed dealer had literally never heard of the street sales of prescription medications when I asked him about it.

My biggest issue is a constant urge to grab a box cutter and euthanise myself. The secondary one is my wish to find a romantic partner, holding the delusion that having someone to love and be loved in return would make life worthwhile and endurable. As this is putting the cart before the horses and my mental illness makes me completely unlovable, this only gives me more distress and makes it worse.

Other than that, I function just fine.
