Dear /adv/,

This Friday, I'm turning 22. Up until I was 18, I was an almost friendless loner who got hated on by virtually my entire year in highschool.

I've turned my life around (changed my behavior and gained social skills) and I now feel happy, healthy and confident, but every day, I still think back to when I was younger and failed at life.

I'm no longer mad at the people who bullied me, but I still feel sad when I think of the past and the things that could have been. I feel like I wasted years of my life.

Is this normal or am I being petty?

I like looking at the person I've become. I just feel sad and gloomy when I think of the past.

I know the feel bro. I was the same way most of my life till I turned 16 and got a gf (18 now). Best help I can give you is to look at all the mistakes you've made and think that they made you the person you are today. Without those events you'd be a completely different person and possibly be leading a different life. In short don't dwell on the past and focus on the present/future
