Could I possibly learn to be a decent singer? I can't sing but I wish I could.

No, singers are born not made
>>
you can train your voice to reach higher notes which is cool, but you'll never change your actual voice

yes you can

It depends. Timbre can be changed quite a bit, range can be learned, but there are natural limitations. I've gotten much better at singing but I still sound much more like Daryl Palumbo than Jay Kay even if I'm trying to sound more like him. I sound like Incubus and Glassjaw even if I want to sound like Bobby Womack or Jay Kay. Everybody has a certain timbre and range. Not only that but not everyone can make melodies like others. I can't make up an Anthony Green melody even if I wanted to. I always end up making up Incubus sounding ones.

My advice is to sing along to multiple genres and try your best to match timbre.

The easiest vocal style is yarling. Just make an "err" shape in your throat and sing from your chest. It's easy as hell. Learn a few STP and Pearl Jam songs.

How long would it take for me to sound like these guys? I'm homo for them.

Probably 2 or three years. They're singing in full voice pretty much all the time with very little inflection. That's not a difficult style to learn imo. Head voice r&b is much harder because of the ammount of note bends and inflections there are to pick up as well as the timbre and range.

Thanks dude, I'll look into it. Doubt I can get that good in 2 years though, I have a pretty crappy voice.

It shouldn't be that hard. Start with yarling then go to some baritone country, both use full voice diaphram. Then it's really about their vibrato.
