Somebody I know is using an edited picture of me in an advertisement on their website. I am not affiliated with their website and never agreed to be in this advert. Is there anything I can do to get it taken down? Do they have the right to use my image and edit it to make me look bad? This is in the USA
I don't want to share the image or the name of their website
Have you tried telling them to take it down?
>"take that image down; you have no right to use it!" etc
No they don't. Ask them to remove it. If they don't, have a lawyer send them a letter. That usually does it and it's not that expensive.

We are not on good terms and he will likely not respond well to a request for it to be removed

How much? Is it actually unlawful for them to have it? Or is it like just a threat to spook them into taking it down?

Holy shit, talk to a lawyer since not even you know the full legal details.
>do they have the right to use my image
Full story, pics and your legal jurisdiction might help. Since you're not comfortable with doing that go talk to a lawyer
