Would or do Muslims find the movie Bram Stoker's Dracula offensive?
I ask because I'm inviting a Muslim individual over for dinner and non alcoholic wine and a movie and I wanted to play one of my favorites, Bram Stoker's Dracula.
However I know that the character of Dracula is based on the real life king Vlad the Impaler who if you are not aware slaughtered countless Muslims. He would place their bodies on long pikes that stood up from the ground.
Is the character of Dracula offensive to Muslims? Should I avoid playing this movie for my date?

Dude it's just a vampire movie. If they were so easily offended, they probably wouldn't even be on a date with a non Muslim.
You know Dracula is the villain of the movie, right? Do you think a jew would get offended by a movie where Hitler is the villain?

They might think it's an ISIS training film.
But seriously given the background you've supplied I think you should find something else.
Leave out the bit of info about all the impaled muslims when you mention it's your favorite movie.
You should be fine op.
I'd be more concerned about the gruesome violence and explicit sexual scenes than that. I mean Dracula does talk about how he was a Hungarian knight who fought against the muslim hordes but idk why anyone would get offended by that, he's the bad guy in the movie anyway.
That whole sequence when he first comes to London and that bit in the early cinema is one of my favorite scenes of any movie though, its so well done. Did you know that this movie was specifically made without using computers for any of the special effects? Like the scene when they walk into the crypt and the candles spontaneously light was shot in reverse and they actually blew out the candles then had the actors walk backwards up the stairs.

Yep so was the scene with the mirrors I forget how they did it though.
