I'm always complaining about shit that I don't even care about, but that other people complain about. Partly because I don't know about what else to talk (I do it more with people I don't know well, but also sometimes with friends), but also to fit in. Does everyone really care about the things they complain about, or are they just looking for something to talk about? Is it wrong to care less about everything than everyone else?

It's a common small-talk topic. Also, there were studies that showed that crying about something subconsciously makes you feel fulfilled, like it's not your fault you are a failure. It gives a false sense of closure.
Of course, not doing it would mean that you need actual interesting topics, and will initially make you even less likely to fit in.
And no, I am not goin g to find the studies for you, I don't remember what they were called and it would be a bitch.
