I had to do two cycles for waking up the party. First I got the altar in the start, the obvious one and in same cycle I got the one behind bombamble wall, but to get the necklace I had to reset.
If you were to get the necklace on same run as you bomb the wall you could get all three woken up on one cycle.

Which is why in the games I run, I always try to hash out the character's backstory, and then use that to try to help me understand their personality. "Oh, it says here that your parents died from a young age. So how did your character respond to that? Did he withdraw and become more introverted? Did he lash out that those around him?"

And then I kinda shape their ideas about their character into a coherent thing, rather than a jumble that might act in a random way given a situation.

See, I'm kind of the opposite. Whenever I end up playing a monstrous race I could give a shit about their abilities, I just want to be a lizardman, or a goblin, or whatever the fuck. I remember in the 3.5 guide to playing monstrous races, they had this acid test where while you were reworking the thing to be playable, you had to look at it and go "would I really rather play this than a normal race" and if you did, it was probably still overpowered. That never worked for me, because I just felt the normal races were kind of boring.
I kinda like Half-Orcs I guess, because I always play mine as kind've naive and good natured slightly-uglier humans.
