Personally, I like to commission artists of all sorts of styles and interests and skill levels. What's I find most important is how much they cost (obviously), how fast they work and most importantly, how well they interact with me. I can commission a good artist once, but it takes I'm much more likely to commission an artist again if they're fun and easy to work with.

Sketches are kind of relaxing, but I think lineart is the medium I like working with most. Flat colors are fun to lay down, but full shading often seems like a bit of a chore in pictures that involve more than one character, nevermind background. I'm definitely happiest laying own some thick black lines and detailing the smaller details of a sketch.

Quality is definitely a goal for me over quantity, but then, I do commissions for fun and pocket money, so that might be a large part of why: I don't rely on them to pay my bills, which I'm grateful for.

Those look very copied from a reference, anon, so there's no way of telling unless you plan to sell traced/HEAVILY referenced (which is the same as tracing) stuff. Try to do some content of your own outside of tutorials, use what you've learned from then, and maybe we'll see if you have potential or not.

There's a big difference between copying what a tutorial tells you and actually putting it to use.

Also get some non-lined paper, fampai.

The shaded ones specially look nice because they have volume, but you might benefit from fewer lines in the circumcised dicks (I'm assuming the top three dicks are circumcised?) Closing off the lines of the glands can make the dicks look a bit weird.

Art style and scene composition, mainly. Scene composition include everything from environment to shot angle, etc.

If they're already apt to include foreskins, that's a positive as well.

I'm down to my iPad for art. I don't commission usually just float around doing random requests on random boards for warms up, but I'm 250 short on a new cintiq. I was wondering what sort of things you guys ask for.

I figured I'd smoke a bowl, take a shower, and then piece together a price guide for what I'm capable of. If it's simple in design I'll draw just about anything as well. not much bothers me. Random was the first thing I googled as a kid and I found /b/

I want the process of commissioning to be fun too. So if you know any artists that are fun and easy to work with, let everyone know.

It's a matter of communication. I send an idea. The artists bounces it back to me and we hammer out the details as we go.

Ive had a few artists really able to take my ideas in directions I ended up liking more than my original thought.

Some commissioners are like that, certainly, but I always put customer satisfaction first. I like talking with commissioners, getting an idea of who they are and what their preferences are. Good art paired with a good attitude makes for a better business platform. At the end of the day, you can't be too friendly with a commissioner because it is just business, but there's no point in being rude or cold in conversation.

Exactly. It's easier to make changes before you've spent too much time on a piece and you constantly get commissioner feedback.

This is also why I don't ask for payment until after initial sketch work. That's sorta the halfway point where your commissioner knows what they're getting and that artist hasn't sunk too much time into the piece. Communication is super important with stuff like this.

Understandable! I'm an artist, but I also have bought commissions, so I try to work with commissioners the same way I'd want to be worked with. I'd get horribly grumpy waiting weeks for art without an update. And artists might be wary about getting paid, but the payment after sketch method seems to work well for both parties.

I couldn't say for certain. Most drawfags around here seem pretty decent, but I dunno how up to date the googledoc is. Just make sure you find someone willing to send you sketches/WIPs before you send the money. I just sent this WIP to a commissioner and they sent me money. Now I'll complete the project.

This is also good advice. Someone who has a decent commission portfolio and seems to communicate well with past/current commissioners will give you an idea of who is most likely going to deliver. Those with repeat customers are even better. Consistent art posting or presence on social media also looks good. These are what I look for in artists when I want to commission, at least.

Alright, let's see if I can work with this.

First thing you wanna do is have a commission sheet and a link to your portfolio or art you've done. If you're going to be doing porn, make sure you have porn examples.

Second, you're going to need a Paypal if you haven't got one already. In most cases, artists are paid after an initial rough sketch to make sure both artist and commissioner are on the same page.

For posting work, you can use a site like hentaifoundry.com or a personal tumblr.

Deciding how much to charge is tricky, especially initially. Have a look at other artists comm sheets, and try to compare yourself against them.

Lastly, it's very hard to get a comm without examples and a comm sheet. It's just too risky for a commissioner. I'd recommend a comm sheet at the very least before you expect to get many commissions.

You can take everything I say with a grain of salt because I don't speak for every artist on this board. I'm just leaving it here for your benefit and for anyone who might be interested in taking this job.

First of all this is going to be a bit of a tricky one since the implication of this commission is that the artist's design is going to be used for commercial purposes. Most independent artists are going to outright charge a far greater sum for commercial work. This is going to lead to some difficult negotiations if either (or both) parties are unaware of their rights and expectations from this commission. You might not realize the extent of what you're asking for this commission and why a lot of artists might demand what seems like a large amount of money.

You might be overall better off just coming up with a design on your own if the point is to get an idea for an actual garment you plan on making. It can save you a lot of trouble in the long run.

Take your current commission sheet.

Make note of where you've placed your example images.

Now what you're going to wanna do (and this is where it gets tricky) is replace the images with more recent examples to reflect your new process/style/capabilities.

Now after all that hard work feel free to grab a beer and unwind while you post up your fresh sheet. Nothing like kicking back with a cold one after an afternoon working hard to promote yourself.

In general I enjoy working with someone who has broad ideas and a good imagination instead of just drawing what I see written in a work order. At least for me I've gotten a lot of repeat clients by building a relationship like this so just give it a shot and be honest about what you're looking for.

It's really not that hard to talk to artists and feel out the situation especially if the pretense of that conversation involves them making money. Keep that in mind if you think you're being a bother or something by messaging an artist.

It has a storyboard function for comic artists and tons of other comic tools.

Don't get frustrated is a big one, it's going to take some time to adjust to drawing digitally but it will get easier. Other than that just practice poses A LOT, and things you find yourself frustrated with spend extra time on.
I go to the /s/ board a lot to find pose references.

As for SAI the stabilizer is SO nice to help you get cleaner lines and it's got a lot of nice tools to help you out, I don't know exactly what you want help with so you can always shoot an ask if you want to go into specifics.

It takes a lot of trial and error, what helps me is flipping the canvas to see what looks wonky and seeing what I can fix with it. It also helps to have a reference of the body type you're trying to draw.
Also I'm not saying tracing is GOOD but if you're starting out it doesn't hurt to trace shapes of body refs to get an idea of how proportions work and stuff. Other artists feel free to correct me on this but it seems to help, just don't trace constantly because you don't really improve that way.
