Patreon is the sole reason anything good has came out of the western dev world in the last 2 years, actually. Yes, there are a lot of people milking it and doing piss-poor jobs with getting work done and/or keeping their Patrons updated, but that doesn't mean EVERYONE is.

Also, Anthophobia, Magic Matchup, Overwhored, and I'm sure other games were all completed on Patreon/funded by Patreon backers. (Internal Interrogation should be done by October or so, also.)

It's a pretty simple, small game (that's why it's only $5), mostly plot based. Vanilla, consensual, between the player character and only one other chick. (Can't really change the name of it after it's complete, either, and it fits the game's storyline going with the naming gimmick I have with all the games I'm making/have made.)

No, Indiegogo and others aren't nearly as viable as Patreon.

Kickstarter doesn't allow hentai (it does allow extremely softcore stuff though, and there are a few projects that slip past the cracks with hentai, but this is extremely risky as they won't ban you until your project funding timeframe is complete). It also takes a huge chunk of your project profits, too.

Indiegogo has almost nowhere the userbase that Patreon does for hentai games, so using it is about the same as going to Vimeo to escape the idiocy that YouTube has; sure, you'll get a much better service, but you'll also get 1/1000th the users, and if your project is reliant on funds... (I'm also pretty sure indiegogo doesn't have nearly the lack of censorship that Patreon does.)

Finally, none of the above sites offer any sort of a refund if the project goes under, and the damage is far worse in general, as you're generally pledging huge chunks of money for decent rewards on those sites, whereas the monthly Patreon campaigns usually have very small amounts required to get rewards, as a monthly schedule can afford this. Patreon actually enables Patreon owners to refund Patrons if they have the money in their account with a simple click as well, something the other sites don't allow, AFAIK.

Patreon's also the only site actively TRYING to support NSFW Patreon accounts, by introducing stuff like the instant pledging (which let's be honest, really only benefits NSFW accounts, as the majority of other accounts don't really have much of a need for instant pledge as the rewards are often up in the activity feed).

I'm not personally into futa, but we're trying to connect with a wide audience with each game we do. Magic Matchup had prostate stimulation, something not in any of our other games, and it was generally pretty vanilla besides that, something that none of our other games can claim to be. Future Fragments is b/g stuff with a wide variety of fetishes. Reclaim Reality is all yuri, something we don't have in our other games thus far (and tentacles, too, although those'll be in FF as well), and so Internal Interrogation will have futa, something unique amongst our games also.

Admittedly, we're also doing futa because a LOT of people asked for futa in Future Fragments, like, probably 5-10% of everyone who's pledged to it has asked for it in the game, and about 30% or so wanted lesbian stuff. Triangulate (the artist for FF) is heavily against doing either of them though, so we figured making separate games (with different artists/programmers) would give those crowds something to be happy about, while of course mixing them in with other fetishes/tastes as well.

Okay, before everyone freaks out about this initial post from someone who clearly isn't one of his Patrons, let me clear all of this up.

First, ViperV is still working nonstop on DA, and it's his primary project. If you're actually a Patron of his, you'll have seen multiple update posts from him showing multiple animations that he's working on, and he's still aiming to get a demo out ASAP.

Second, he's not stalling; he lives in a poor part of a poor country (we're talking where the water isn't safe to drink at times), so I can attest personally he's gotten sick a few times from this stuff. I realize everyone complains about this stuff, but it's a fact of life that people get sick. Some people are doing these games because their bodies ARE in poor shape, and needing to work from home is a health necessity, not a luxury.

Third, yes, ViperV and I are working together on Internal Interrogation; this isn't really a secret, we've both been saying this for ages. However, ViperV is only coming in to do touchup work on things; the majority of the art work done on the game is done by third party animators, who are using his character design sheets for reference. ViperV himself is still focusing almost all of his time on DA.

Fourth, the guy has a full family, with kids, etc. so he can't literally work on it 16 hours a day. That's why he's also got animators working on DA for these times, so that work still continues.

If you think a creator has genuinely stopped a project, pledge, check their updates, and then unpledge to them. I'll poke him to make a public post about things on Tumblr or something, but he's working to the point of causing health issues.

What do you guys think is better for a dating system.

Idea 1:

You talk to character, and once enough exp is reached you go on a date (which is a lose/win situation).

If you lose, you get no sex scene and cant ask out the character for a few days (the game has a 50 day time limit). If you fail a level of a date enought times you can't date that character for that save.

Each "level" of date increases the sex.

So lvl 1 is handjob, lvl 2 is a blowjob scene, then 3 is a full sex scene, and then 4 things start to get fetishy so say you do something in a public theater.

It's linear and you have to beat an increasing minigame of sorts during date to get to the sex.

So during game production a character that only say has blowjob/oral scene done will be only allowed to date to level two, and once more is done you can continue play and explore the higher level

Idea 2:

instead of there being "level" of progression, each date is a series of questions with each question adding to a pool of character type "lover, sadist, loser, rapist" or something along those lines.

Depending on how you answer to each question and your eagerness you get an outcome based on the largest pool of answered questions above.

The difierence here though is that you'd only have one "complete' sex scene revolved around the theme of lover/sadist/loser/rapist instead of there being one set path that is unloackable in tiers (but it would mean all 4 types would need to be made at once as dating and ending a pool with incomplete scenes would mean youd see nothing instead).
