They paid damn well for the kind that you did considering it would have been shit pay on Earth, but right now that seemed pretty irrelevant. You'd planned on taking your cash and bailing back to the blue planet once you'd worked up a good retirement sum, another year and you would have gotten it too. Maybe you still can, if you live.

Today had been relatively normal, routine maintenance checks, Chad being dick as always, and that fucking door in sub-section A still opened and closed at random intervals. All of that got fucked when portals to another dimension started popping up and monsters materialized out of thin air. Now you were a pretty rational person growing up, boogeymen, ghouls, hell, just children's fears and maybe your local pastor's tool to keep his flock in line, but as it turns out that shit was real. There was a bad place where the damned resided, and they were ruthless unfeeling monsters currently laying waste to the facility and anyone their eyes laid on.

Ever since the mayhem started you've been dashing from corridor to corridor. You've seen demons grab people from this hiding places in the vents, you've seen limbs get popped off. Nowhere seemed to be safe, but you knew a place. Being a maintenance guy gave you the advantage of knowing where the storage rooms where, the doors were heavily reinforced and there was enough food and water there to weather this storm, at least for a while. You could see it now, down one last hallway, salvation at last!

Your breathing was haggered and your lungs were very much protesting their torment, but you needed them for one last job. You made a mad sprint to the door, you knew at any moment you could be discovered, the insane luck you enjoyed so far did not escape your notice and you weren't about to test it further. There were moments before where you were certain you were being followed, but in the next few seconds that wouldn't matter.

You reached the door, and took out your key card hastily swiping it. “C'mon! C'mon!” you muttered in your adrenaline fueled and panicked attempts. Eventually the light on the keypad turned from red to green and salvation opened before you. Quickly you went inside and shut the door with the keypad on the opposite end.

You're on your feet now, and you begin to scan the room for options. As you do a violent crash is set upon the door. Green plasma leaks into the room and that once sturdy door looks like it's about to fly off with one last show of force. You dart to a nearby locker and shut yourself in. If they get in perhaps at least they'll think the room is empty.

You hear thunderous footfalls approach in what sounded like long strides and braced yourself for the worst. Though the slits of the locker you could make a behemoth burst into the room, it's skin a bright blood crimson and musculature no mortal man was capable of possessing. You couldn’t make out anymore than that, though you weren't sure that you wanted too. You were content to be completely still and control your breathing until it left.

The demon seemed to scan the room and wondered around it a bit. Aside from the thumps of the creature's cloven feet made the loudest thing you could hear your own heart pounding in your ears. From what you could tell it circled the room several times occasionally turning over it's contents in the search. Eventually you heard footfalls heading towards the door, it seemed satisfied that it found nothing and you allowed yourself a sigh of relief.

I love the new designs!
The old designs are classical, but the new ones are so fresh and vibrant!
They have all the classic character traits, too.
Imps are quick and pointy, Hell Knights are big and brutish, zombies come in a selection of flavors, Cacodemons are their usual floating, spitting, biting selves, and the Cyberdemon is a giant ass kicker.
What's not to love?
