As the one who posted the question, I have a few . . .

As a big ol' comic geek, it involves Superheroines.

Two are simple Pro Wrestling AUs. One where the Story's of the comics are the stories in the ring. The other has Kayfabe as fully intact and just runs with the basic premise. No powers in either, just hero costumes and attitudes. One more 'real world', the other more like Rival Angels (what, you don't read the only long running women's wrestling webcomic?)

The other is a powered Gladiatorial Arena. Whether death is an issue or not is something I debate with, but it otherwise runs on the rules of the Romans (like what they actually were, rather than what Hollywood portrays them as. They are REFS!), taken up by the supers for reasons ranging from desperation to ego.

But it's very nature skews dark.

Had a feeling from one of the previous threads but I'm probably in the minority in terms of preferences. Really into the more primal catfighting aspect: two girls who really dislike each other doing whatever they can to inflict pain and humiliation on each other. Not as much into friendly sparring or big, over the top pro wrestling moves like pile-drivers or figure-fours.

1. Retro sci-fi future like Star Trek where females of all the universe's species fight for the pride of their homeworld/empire/race. You could add in god-like energy beings that take an interest in the competition for added drama. The greatest female fighter in the universe becomes a nascent energy being and gets to use those powers as she sees fit, that's the motivation for everyone fighting. Or you could drop the angle entirely and just have it be a league of wrasslin space babes.

Each race could have different stat modifiers. What are the stats we're working with? I was thinking something like human girls having high endurance and skill from Earth's history of martial arts. The token cat-person race has high flexibility but no stamina and their tail can either be used as an extra limb or as a liability. It's pretty shameful to have to tap because someone is choking you out with your own tail. The tall gold skinned elf girls have great strength but poor dexterity.

I'd be able to define it better if I know what stats we're dealing with.

2. Robot Girl fighting league

There's actually a quest like this on /tg/. Having the chicks be robots allows a great deal of customization and upgrade potential. It explains XP and leveling up as upgrading. The managers would be engineers basically and would have a great deal of control over the girls.

3. Goddess ritual combat

Takes place on a fantasy world. Goddesses decide who gets their way with epic catfights. A beaten goddess might be forced to incarnate as a vulnerable mortal for a time or perform some other sort of demeaning act. The appeal comes from haughty and powerful goddesses risking being brought low and vulnerable by their rival.

It'll provide a lot of pre-made character ideas. Just take from mythology. Isis vs Athena. Pele vs Amaterasu. Ishtar vs Brigid.

The managers in this case would be high priests. The types of temples and monuments they build will determine upgrades.

I was going to go as minimal as possible. Since I'd have to generate a bunch of fights per update, I don't want to spend more than a few minutes each. So stats are probably going to be skill/strength/endurance, or something like that, possibly even boiled down further, plus darkest dungeon quirks as mentioned earlier. I'm going to do whatever I end up doing there.

My current plan was to release updates as some kind of in universe newspaper/magazine/thing, summarized (so you'd know that X suplexing Y is on the front cover, Z making fun of A was a major story, and less noteworthy results would get mentioned but glossed over).

Would certain cultural archetypes influence the stats? Like a warrior race fighting differently than the Vulcan race?

What all should be on the quirk list? Some debuff against girls of a certain race after a humiliating loss to one? A flaw that makes a girl show mercy on a weakening opponent either out of cockiness or kindness? A 'smug racial superiority' quirk that makes it easier to demoralize girls of a certain race?

Should humiliation and demoralization be mechanics? I think they should.

Quirk list is going to be [bonus/penalty] vs [thing], plus behavior issues (greater chance to interfere in other fights, greater chance to enter feuds, greater chance to shit talk in the magazine and attract negative attention from other fighters, etc). I've never used IRC before . . . and I need to focus on actually writing.

I just finished a comic script full of catfights (6 pages) and I think I may preview it here.

Page One (Four Panels)
Panel 1
This is an extreme close up of the Witch Arm – a magical gauntlet on NICO MINORU’s right arm. But all there that can be seen is a gem, and lines stemming from it.

CAP:
I died once. When I came back, I asked for help.

CAP:
Since I was trapped in a cheap knockoff of Battle Royale, the help I got was obvious. I was changed to fit that idiotic game.

Panel 2
Nico’s body, but not her head, is in view. Both her arms are encased in these gauntlets. She’s in a gothic-themed MMA outfit. She has a gothic style sort of like Baby Metal, so her fight gear, while designed to minimize hold points, is layered where it can be. Look at the outfits of wrestlers like MsChif, Dafney, or Cheerleader Mellissa (let me know if you need to help finding reference pics for these). The big thing is to have her arms/fists in BIG GAUNTLETS with a BIG JEWEL in either the top of the hand or forearm. Have fun with the design. We don’t see her head yet. Each caption should be over or next to a different part of her, one on the left, one on the right. Descending and alternating.

Panel 1
Nico is surrounded by a FLAMING AURA (Think Dragon Ball Z’s Kaio-Ken) as she delivers a massive haymaker a STONE WOMAN. It’s so strong it knocks CHIPS OF STONE off her. This and the next four panels should have a rough placement, as if the violence within is dislodging them.

Nico straddles the back of a PUNK ROCK BRAWLER, having SMASHED her face into the ground.

A MAGIC FIREBALL lashes out from Nico’s Gauntleted hand and shatters an MAGIC SHIELD of a VOODOO-THEMED WITCH like a pane of glass, blowing her off her feet. Think of it as the moment of impact from a Hadoken from Street Fighter.

NICO holds an LADY NINJA in a sleeper, who’s out like a light.

Panel 1
Nico holds the unconscious Ninja just off her prone position on the ground by the hair as she raises an arm in victory.

CAP:
Even super-hero stuff wasn’t enough some times. I just couldn’t let go.

The feel of it.

Panel 2
Nico appears in three places at once, in a running pose, avoiding a FLOWER CHILD Hippie witch who has her arms raised, and spells on her fingertips: calling up VINES to strike Nico. Vines and floral designs dominate her design – including ‘gloves’ and ‘elbow/knee/shoulder’ pads made of thorny vines.

Panel 3
Small panel. Nico holds her arms out to the side, gathering lightning in them.

Panel 4:
Nico blasts the hippie with the lightning. It smashes through a defensive barrier and shocks her and smashes her vine ‘armor’ (no nudity).

Nico stands with one foot atop the unconscious Hippie as confetti reigns down, and flashes from the crowd illuminate things. If that’s too hard to pull off, just the crowd roaring should do.

Panel 1
Nico stands amid a pile of defeated lady fighters (all the ones mentioned – or as many as you can fit. Have fun with this one, variety is the spice of life). Nico is beat to hell, but arms raised in pure elation. She’s got bruises and a black eye from all the fighting. This will carry into the rest of the work.

CAP:
If I hadn’t already been reconditioned to fight, I’d start fighting myself after all this.

CAP:
But that could be the ‘new me’ talking.

Panel 2
Close in on Nico, an ANNOUNCER has a microphone, his mouth open, holding up Nico’s hand and declaring her the winner. She’s not listening to him. Her mind is elsewhere, eyes looking away and head turned slightly away.

CAP:
Who knew there was a whole professional superpower fighting league in California? Weird right.

CAP:
And even though I know they know what happened, no one talks about it. I don’t bring it up either, but sometimes . . . I feel . . . I fear it might define me.

CAP:
And I really don’t want it to.

Panel 3
Nico sits on a bench in a locker room counting through a big WAD OF CASH.

CAP:
But it’s not so bad. I haven’t felt the need to hurt people more than I’ve had to since I started this. Not as a superhero, and not in the ring.

CAP:
Plus I get paid for it.

CAP:
So I can support my . . . I suppose they’re my team, but really? We’re family.

Panel 4
Nico heads to a house on the shore, dressed in sweats with a duffle bag over her shoulder.

CAP:
And while I still feel the hurt of everything . . .

Panel 1
In the doorway of the home, four figures stand: KEN MACK (Mettle), JENNIFER TAKEDA (Hazmat), KAROLINA DEAN, and CHASE STEIN. They’re all in civilian/loose clothing, smiling. Ken has a hand around Jennifer as She and Chase wave to Nico. KAROLINA floats above them, glowing both literally and metaphorically

CAP:
I have warmth waiting for me.

Panel 2
INSIDE THE HOUSE is bustling with people, Chase is carrying Nico in as MOLLY HAYES, KLARA PAST, VICTOR MANCHA, JULIE POWER, and SINGULARITY in various points of getting up to meet her. They were all watching TV when Nico returned, so place things as needed.

Victor is on a chair, caught off guard by the return, a bowl of popcorn on his lap tilts with food spilling out.

Molly Hayes is already up and running to meet her, her face beaming with excitement. As is Singularity, who flies as Molly jumps a couch.

Klara just has her attention peak up, as Julie is braiding her hair. Julie hasn’t moved yet and just finishes the braid.

CAP:
It’s definitely an odd family, what with two adopted daughters, a boyfriend, a girlfriend, and three other couples we have an open understanding with. But it’s mine. And it works.

CAP:
Just don’t ask me how.

Panel 3
Nico lays in bed, her clothing and hair a complete mess. Hanky-panky has happened between panels, but it’s more modest cuddling for now. She lays on her back with one arm around Jennifer (who faces her, Ken spooning her), her other arm around Chase (who lies on his back, his head leaning against hers), and Singularity on top of Nico, her head resting on Nico’s chest. Contented smiles on their faces. All of them have their eyes closed.

CAP:
I know it can’t last. So I’m not going to waste a second of it.

CAP:
But between them, I’ve found a balance. A good place.

Small panel again. Back to the setting of Panel 4, tighter in on Nico, her eyes open and her face full of annoyance.
