Take your Pick. most of my OC's i never thought of adding families. the ones i do there is afew different types. from the Adopted Tara & Sol Highwind, to the Extended family that is "The Victories" and then there is the one i am working on now. The Masterson/Craftman family.

To keep it simple i am only sticking with the last one. the family is Tommy/Sabrina Masterson, His Mother Julia Masterson, and His Father Johnny Craftman. Both Julia and Johnny where Co-Workers at SoCal U. he an english professor. her a professor of experimental sciences. The Marriage ended when Tommy was 4 as Johnny couldnt handle the "Mad Scientist" anymore. Tommy and Johnny have a "Rough" Father/Son Relationship. Tommy tries to impress his father with what he can do. but Johnny doesnt think the whole "Beach Bum" lifestyle is a respectable one. but the two do care for each other.
Tommy cares for his mother alot. and she cares for him too. while she is a Mad Scientist she does regret not being there for her son.

So, on the original story for the game I plan to make, Mariana and her mother get caught on the alien invasion at the very intro.
Her bara father goes beserk and takes down a whole fleet with his bare hands, thus ending up breaking Mariana free.
He ends up beaten by the aliens and disappears, her parents aren't dead, only missing.
His look is inspired on LordGenome.

Recently got lifted of my ban sooo imma post an OC.
Her name is Cherry Sherbet. She enjoys playing card games and eating fruit (naturally her favorite are cherries.)
She's got a pretty cold and demanding personality, but she's very shy when put in a situation where she's vulnerable. She can be a tsundere if you wanna call it that hehe.
The two marks under her eyes are given to her from the constellations. They are a sign that Cherry possesses the potential to call upon a Constellation demon, something from a story i'm developing haha.

As for RPG maker, I recomend you watching tutorials online, and also try to make a small game using only the default assets, something that you can beat in an hour or less should do. it will get you used to the concept of event flags variables and game progression.

Once you are more confortable you can start doing more original stuff, just dont try to jump right into making your big idea right away, take some time to learn how it all works.

Now if you want fancy things like a custom battle system or menus or other things thats more complicated.

I once mentioned that Axe and Ammy had a lot in common including the fact that they grew up without a father figure. Axe is an only child (he is right?) but Ammy lost her sister at a very young age so she also pretty much grew up as a lone child for most of her life.

Here's a pic from when I was designing Pipers "dads"

Theyre not a guy couple or anything, theyre mechanic partners that own a junk yard.
A damaged Piper came in one day and they repaired her and adopted her.

They arent a couple but they pretty much act like one, bickering while never actually hating each other or anything. The taller guy (i forgot what I named them..) is the sweeter one while the shorter one is more gruff with a heart of gold.

probably obvious but there is a slight Mario parody to thier design, thats because when they were created they were part of another project with some mario influence but that since died out but i kept the characters.
Theres actually jokes about it in thier characters as despite being great mechanics and good at repairing things (you hear that, all you robots out there?) they arent very good with plumbing and both seem to lack the ability to grow mustaches.

Theyre very loving guys and Piper has a happy family with them. Although she isnt at home as much now since she started traveling with MIA (who does not like them) but she keeps in touch and will visit if shes ever near, or sometime break off from mia for a bit and go home for a while, then find her again to resume their wandering.


fun fact: i originally created them as a why to canonically change the design for Pipers nose. it was too pointy and rat like at first, so I wanted to make it more bat like, so in story her nose gets damaged and she finds them to repair it. at this point ive probably just retconned it to always be batlike and she could have had some other damage instead.
