By tutorial you mean the official documentation? I can understand why it would be kind of confusing, since it assumes you already know how UI development works. Most UIs are developed using some kind of relational, "russian dolls" style of design, like in HTML or Unity3D. Ren'py uses the same thing. We are still working on it. All the backgrounds except for 2 is finished. There are 6 unique backgrounds but most of them have different versions for events and time of day. After that we will have sprites and cg to complete. 4-5 scenes will use cg's and we are making a nice sprite catalog so future development will be a lot faster.
