The lead gameplay designer openly hates whites.
However that's not the main reason I think this game is probably going to be trash. Andromeda is developed by the C team and has been in development for 5 years. Considering that the final result has animation and voice acting that would have been substandard 10 years ago and is absolutely laughable today those 5 years were obviously pissed away.
Not to mention the characters look extremely unappealing. I wonder if it's intentional to prove some sort of point.
The visuals look ok as far as I've seen, it's frostbite so you get what you get. Wouldn't surprise me if the quality is really uneven considering how amateurish the rest of the production is.
Plot and story is probably shit, ME never had especially good plot (it's a whatever-teir space opera with a lot of bullshit in it) and from what I've gathered so far the andromeda plot seems to be cliché as fuck

From what I've gathered the studio responsible for Andromeda is the one in Montreal that designed the MP mode for ME3 so expecting a kernel of a good game in there wouldn't be a bad thing, but that also spells very bad portents for the shitty animations and glitches. Still skipping out on it.

I've been playing the trial on EA access.

Game is good. Some minor human characters outside of cutscenes (and, for some reason, your dad) have wonky faces, but all the aliens look great, so do the environments. Game plays well. New mako is fun to drive.

Character creator sucks compared to previous games, not gonna sugar coat it. Always made myself before. Impossible now. Still, I made a glam rock chick and am having a lot of fun.

ME3's problem was that it felt like it was written by a completely different team from 1 and 2, who had to get all of their information off the wiki, and had no real idea how to write any of their characters including Shepard somehow correctly.

It wasn't helped by the skyhigh expectations that had been generated by promising big payoffs for every single decision you made throughout the game (the Rachni Queen being the more infamous example)
Nor was it helped by the fact that the ending was complete bullshit which Bioware then insulted everyone who complained about.

There were things it got right. The combat never felt tighter for instance, and players who had been growing this character from the start had a nice organic progression from ME2.
Graphically things looked nicer as well, which you'd expect but odds were that your fresh faced Commander from ME1 now looks like a grizzled PTSD'd soldier who's seen shit and nobody else understands or believes him.

Which I liked.

But yeah. They really needed to realise that nobody has ever bought and read a Mass Effect novel and there was no fucking need to have those characters turn up in the game.
It felt like I was playing ME fanfiction.

I routinely find myself loving the shit out of entertainment (books, movies, games, albums, etc.) that the fan base at large, critics, and the general public detest.

I guess I just enjoy the escape and losing myself in a story, even a "shitty" one. Once I'm into it, I get blinders on and can only see the good parts.

And to that point, I have only ever played one game in my life where I just had to quit due to the story, or more accurately, the lack of one entirely. And that was Dark Souls.

Although now I have watched hours of lore explanation and it is actually fascinating, but the way they tell the story and feed you the lore in-game is atrocious.

There is only like, 1 preset that is distinctly Caucasian out of 9. The character customization is shitty in general and I really wish they'd have done a better job, not like they couldn't just fucked around with DA: I's CC. It was fairly good
