So this pic gave me a bit of trouble and most of it was due to the fact that i'm an amateur trying to do a master's work.

Problem #1, the original file was a archived png (which is the first time i'v heard of that), so i couldn't mess with the colors. Solved simply enough by copy/paste. Problem #2, I had a lot of trouble recoloring the inside bodysuit part of the legs. i have done this before with another juri pic actually, but it's always a jury rig job. Doesn't help it was black so i had tinker with the contrast/brightness. Still haven't gotten shading down and i guess this doesn't make sense considering how her outfit works (would probably work better with her SF4 gi look).

So while i don't think it's terrible, it could be much better.

That's PRETTY par for the course with that author, which is fine with me since it's mostly a humiliation thing for me. There's like 30 pages of story so maybe there's something in there, though.

The weird thing is, these captions are just that - pretty average for PPP. And that's fine but they're behind a paywall now. Why jump to twitter though? Use something like Hiccears instead, allows literally anything drawn, allows full res, works can be commented, works can be put into art folders which is good for anything with variations, full comic, common theme or similar.

It's a bit underdeveloped because it's quite new still, but it's the best of all worlds, only thing holding it back is the need to sign in because of the various maturity filters and just being not well known.

Twitter, FA, and Deviantart are really the only three sites an artist can post their niche fetish stuff on to actually be seen by more than five people (Maybe tumblr as well.)
Twitter is just by far the least painful to use of the three because of the userbase, and the fact it's much less involved to post simple sketches or other smaller pictures that many artists do 90% of the time, whereas deviantart/FA sort of encourage only full works being submitted most of the time.

Most artists usually post their full pictures to multiple other sites, and simply keep sketches or small projects to twitter, having the mentality of "Well this is worth showing off now, but hardly worth coming to actively search for by others in the future" which, is a pretty fair assumption seeing as most people only care for full colored/lined pics in the first place.
If you can't handle twitter exclusives sketches and scraps that much, why not take it up with the artists themselves, I'm sure if I personally heard any verbal requests for me to post my mediocre scraps elsewhere, I'd probably start obliging them. But as for now twitter is easily the place where we get the most notice on our smaller effort pictures compared to any other site, so it works.


And, hiccears may be a great site design wise that solves all these problems, but it's also dead as fuck and nobody's ever heard of it, which makes it pretty much pointless to artists.
Maybe one day people will start making the shift over to one of the two dozen new art hosting sites out there, but it probably won't be anytime too soon.

Scraps are a fine answer, and, many artists already do this, maybe if you again, started naming names and bringing it up with said artists, they would actively post more on their scraps.


And, the circular catch 22 is exactly why those art sites never take off and we have so many out there. It's not worth the effort for artists to put their stuff up on inkbunny,Weasyl, Hiccears, And god knows what other small-name sites, and then also try to constantly state the fact "hey my art can also be found here at X!" Because, 99% chance the site is never going to get popular and take off in the first place.

Artists need viewers, and viewers need artists, so unless you can magically shift the masses at once, in one big bulk, a site is never realistically going to take off until one brings something new to the table as some kind of incentive for its users to try it out.

Nono, I do get you fully, and I've agreed, hiccears sounds like it has an amazing setup for being the no-censor place to post any flavor of art you want. But as you said yourself you can't really 'break' into the big 3 because of the catch 22 of getting new people onto a site en masse. Twitter requires the least bit of effort on the artists behalf relative to getting some of the most notice from a bulk of people, that's really the main reason people use it. Oh yeah, do the people who said Blackroseseduction and Swabbs used tracing to make their work back up that statement?

I'm just curious about it, to me it doesn't matter. BSD tracing 3D models means she has to put together a 3D scene and pose models to begin with and then imagine everything they wear anyways, just making a 3D scene is on it's own work. The idea that tracing automatically devalues a work is stupid, it's tracing others work and then posing it as original work that is stupid.

She talked about it on stream a while ago how she's been thinking more about wearing them for comfort but not wanting to waste money on them.

Lines up well with the what if... development of sewing her own cloth ones just to have something to wear without wasting money by throwing unused disposable ones.

1. Female artist in college needs money so they start drawing fetish art at a desk and have a normal room / doesn't have much "This is weird.. but at least I'm making money.

2. Artist's room gets nicer, better computer, tablet, maybe nicer clothes, and artist is streaming their art. "I guess this is pretty cute, maybe I'd be cute..."

3. Artist's room gets a little babyish, artist is now wearing a diaper while working. "This diapers feel really good and I look really cute..."

4. Artist's room is now a nursery with a computer/streaming set up for art, artist is in a diaper / baby outfit with pacifier messing themselves, on the computer screen you see the art stream and the artist having a camera on their diapered area.

I dunno about Swabbs, but news through the grapevine is that BSD tried to apply to CushyPen. Since he relied too heavily on 3D models, it made it impossible for him to do more creative things that weren't in their library of traceable 3D models. He threw a hissy fit when that was made apparent.

Like regular artists have to do from pure imagination and knowledge lol? Posing with 3D software isn't rocket science. Tracing over poorly developed 3D work is the LEAST you can do to avoid a picture that looks like this.

It IS a crutch. You're not doing yourself any favors as an illustrator if you're avoiding understanding perspective and the human body. Two pretty fundamental aspects of drawing smut. It's not surprising people develop shortcuts instead of learning or hard work.

Nah see that's different, if you can't do stuff because you can't pose it in 3D then it's something you've attached arbitrary limitations to, avoiding to learn and expend your knowledge with how to use that technique to get any result you want.

If it stops you from doing things and learning, then you're applying the wrong mindset.

"regular artists", everyone works in different ways. Some blend 3D models into their paintings, some blend photos into their work, some use them for texture. Some rely heavily on references.

There is no right or wrong way to do art, what matters is trying your best to get your desired results down and always trying to improve to get it down as you want it.

Drawing from imagination, not using references, is actually pretty rare, because it requires so much skill most artists do not have, and keep in mind, you might think it looks good, but that doesn't mean the professional artists agree.

Working with 3D is one of the biggest helps I've heard from several artists for truly getting a beyond-basics understanding of perspective.

Anatomy is a never ending struggle for anyone at any level.

No technique is wrong, it's all about mindset, are you trying to learn, or are you just doing something to get a result? That's the difference.

If you trace 3D models to avoid understanding how to draw, then naturally you won't progress, doesn't mean there is anything wrong with tracing 3D models.

You seem pretty affirmed in your opinion so I'm not going to try to persuade you that these things are crutches. Just know that artists have been creating works of pure imagination far before 3D modeling and photo references.

I will concede that there is no 'correct' answer or guideline to learning illustration. Though, something tells me that the tracing of a 3D model in ALL of your works is less of a learning tool and more of a crutch.

If the gossip is true, BSD's reliance on the tool was the reason he could not get into Cushypen.

Yes, professional artists working out in the field working for bigshots are baddies because they have to use references, such a crutch to have to look up parts of the thing you want to draw so you get better at it and get it more right.

Everything is a crutch if you make it into one. Like expecting to draw well because you got a tablet.

It's all just tools, tools are never a reason you can't do work, to call a tool a crutch is simply stupid. Putting limitations on a tool or only working within the boundaries of a tool, that is a crutch, but that's not the tool being bad, that's the artist being bad.

If the gossip is true, there is nothing BSD could not make from tracing 3D models, the attitude taken towards the choice of tools would be the reason.

Oh man. You're crazy, you know that? Even the Renaissance masters, even da Vinci, even Rembrandt, used references. References are not a crutch and never have been. Hell, many artists today still use those little poseable doll things. Artists in the past did studies of just drawing people's parts, hands, feets, torsos, to get better.

References aren't a crutch, unless you're directly tracing on em.
