>Literally just another "badass saves damsel in distress" with the genders reversed
how do people even like this, I fell asleep 3-4 times watching it. Are the novels this bad too?
>>
Spearfags love it for the spear action.
Moefags love it for the spear action.
GARfags love it for the spear action.
>>
>>161643613
There's only like 3-4 30-second spear action scenes tho
>>
>>161643512
It's about two people forming a mother-son bond. And spear fights.

It doesn't compare to damsel in distress stories because there's no expectation of romance or any kind of reward from the damsel.

>>161643512
> Muh deconstruction
> Muh tropes
>>
>>161643512
If you cant appreciate their bonding then you have chronically shit taste. Moritbo is one of the pinnacle entries of the entire medium however the mid act with all the exposition by the side cast really is a bit slow.
>>
>>161643976
oh I appreciate their bond but that's about it really. Everything else from the frustratingly slow pace to the expositional dialogue throughout the series to the parts that are only there to create false tension (ex: finding the most important epitaph only being discovered after the deadline) to the poorly choreographed fights (at least the animation was pretty good) and how everything about this anime in general was dull af

We should have gotten more

that was a good one

You should try watching with yours eyes open, anon.
>>
>>161643720
But it is the best ever. And yes I liked them more than Sword of the Stranger's.

She's a tiger.
>>

I haven't seen it but I am now going to watch it for the spear action.
Spears are like the third best weapon in existence after fists and shields.
>>
>>161643512
Actually....
Damsel is gender neutral...and badasses saving ransomed damsels was never about sex.
I mean, the badasses who would rescue damsels would let them die, sold into slavery, whored out if there was no reward.

The savior, meaning heroic man(or swole dyke for the lezzis) risking all to save the valuable damsel, meaning heroine, is a masturbatory fantasy for women more then it is for men.

Even the very idea of men risking everything to save a woman has become so ingrained and common place in peoples minds that they simply think of it as natural and even have entire swaths of society built upon shitting on the very idea of it as being anything worthy of praise.
WHILE there is all kinds of shlick fantasy built upon the very opposite.
>>
>>161647068
you are just too blinded by the animation quality that you don't realize the fights themselves aren't that impressive.
>>
>>161647763
Could you point to what you think is a well-choreographed fight then? Moribito's fights had a sense of tension, which is absent in most other anime, due to its choreography.

I really liked the fantasy world building. It was really well done and different from the usual.
And the animation made it feel real too.
>>
>>161647763
The fights in Moribito are quite grounded in reality. You won't find time-stopping bullshit like in >>161650160 or super strength and super speed bullshit like in >>161650289.

Maybe you need fights to include super powers in order to find them impressive. This doesn't mean that the fights in Moribito are 'poorly choreographed' though. It simply means that, for you, the fights in Moribito are boring.

.
>>
>>161650160
I don't see what's very impressive about this fight. It seems to be primarily based on throwing powers at each other and looking "cool" rather than it being an engaging battle.
>>161650289
Agreed. Primarily because of Gon's clever use of his surrounding.
I'd like to note that if you're looking for fights with special moves then you'll obviously be bored with Moribito. It's not that type of show as its fights are more grounded in reality (at least moreso than Hunter x Hunter and Fate). What allowed Gon vs Hisoka to be good was the fact that unrealistic strength and abilities exist in that world. In contrast, an over reliance on this fact is what makes the first battle lackluster.

Because Moribito doesn't rely on that sort of setting for its battles, it focuses on movement/positioning and techniques (some of which can be somewhat subtle). Of course the animation has to be good enough to show this, so that might be why you claim that I'm blindsided by the animation.

Very good ending theme

Actually, that's not the case at all.
And I'd like to add that every fight scenes in the series, that everyone praises as the second biggest reason they like Seirei no Moribito, don't exceed 6 minutes combined.

I'll give you that the bit from 0:35-1:10 is pretty neat, but let's analyze the rest for a bit.
50% of the time, the perspective is fixed facing one of the characters' faces, if that's not lazy I don't know what is, the remaining bit is composed of the exact 2-3 moves in a different order each time. Every fight feels the same.
My issue isn't that it's boring, it's not creative at all (again, besides the fight in the forest), and I like my fights creative.
It's the reason why I find stuff like this

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KkWJEGg_v1w
ten times more exciting and gripping
>>
>>161650160
is this bait?
>>
>>161643512
They just sit around and don't do anything. I was expecting a comfy journey but I got boring, uninspired hore shit.
