It's been over half a week since the sticky, do you feel like the board got better or worse?

You gotta admit, that pickle Nozomi was kinda funny.

No it was not. Maybe if you're 13 and think Rick and Morty is the best thing ever, but then you're a retard and you shouldn't be here.
>>161468486
And the board has been objectively better.

i preferred when the cancer was contained within the generals which i could filter and ignore. Now theres like 5 boku no hero academia or dragonball threads every hour killing slow moving threads
>>
I know longer feel like having a stroke now that template threads are gone. That in itself is a huge improvement.
>>
I still see a shitload of "general" or stupid "what do you think her feet smell like" threads.
>>
>>161468843
>know longer
Anon, I think you did have that stroke.
>>
>>161468486
A bit. It's nice to see some of the more cancerous generals gone, though I wish they'd leave homo threads alone.
>>
>>161468486
It's the same except for the mod deleting any non series specific threat he doesn't like.
>>
>>161468486
worse, this is basically reddit now
>>
So I thought DBS threads were banned from that locked thread yesterday but I still see them here?
>>
>>161469160
They aren't. It was just one sperg spamming the board because he thinks DB threads should be exempt from the consecutive thread rule when many other threads were deleted for the same reason yet they don't complain because they aren't babies that think their threads are special.

It does fucking nothing, really. People still create threads about series they want, even if there are five other threads already, just without a template in OP.

You want to improve the quality of posts? First of all, ignoring the fact that the idea is ridiculous due to posters being gigantic fags, mods could just create global filters that automatically remove all threads with common phrases in OP. People do it locally anyway.
"What did they mean by this?", "I want to ___ X", "X will never be your Y", etc. Let's not pretend people who make this sort of threads want to have a constructive discussion.
>>
It's the exact same with DBSfags creating more generals than usual
>>
>buyfag, drawfag, shounenshit, seasonshit all still up
>topics being deleted on a whim

Why hasn't this faggot been culled yet, what is japmoot doing.
>>
>>161470210
>what is japmoot doing
Nothing. All the work is done by the mods.
>>
>>161468486
The Quality improved quite a bit, but there are still generals and shounen shit threads filled with shitposting.
There should a time limit on DBS,SNK,BNHA, etc.., something like only threads up to 2 days after airing.
This would at least encourage newfags to watch something else.
>>
There have been like 20 Dragonball threads, 20 fate threads, 20 Eva threads, and 20 bnha today. Plus the Jojo general, LWA general, Boruto General, One Piece General, and Buyfag General are all still here.
>>
I don't think anyone will be mad if the mods just ban DBS discussion.
>>
>>161468486
It should be expanded to every other board. We need to purge the newfriends.
>>

>>
>>161470210
Gook doesnt do shit, he basically lets those who do it for zero compensation which i doubt is true since there's been proof mods shill for companies and one mod even wrote some dumb shit on a tech website about /pol/ mod the entire site and its their fault 4chan has been getting even worse the past 4 years.
>>
>>161470421

yea, don't see a problem here. all top quality series are being discussed, while other garbage should be filtered out.

Shounenshit brings the worst cancer into the board, it should be limited and restricted.
Hell, most shounenfags are cross boarders who don't post about any other manga or anime.

Boards evolve naturally. /a/ has been around for over 10 years. Trying to enforce rules to artificially change a boards culture isn't going to work. People have been here for a long time and they aren't just going to leave or change their posting behaviour just because you tell them to.

/a/ is somewhat better. There is a bit more variety on the first two lines of the catalog, than a week ago. One thing that people seems to ignore is that when what would have been a general get split in 5 or so threads each one of them go slower, meaning it pop up at the top more rarely, which means it get less posters.

>>
>>161473832
Crossboarding is only really an issue on /a/, since due to the changing demographics of this site, /a/ is the only major board on this site that has a radically different posting environment than rest of the major boards.

Since most people on 4chan today have no interest whatsoever in "weeb" hobbies and only use this site because they like memes, perceived anonymity and perceived lack of moderation, /a/ is a relatively isolated board that still retains the "core values" of the site.

So while crossboarding between the other major boards on this site is usually barely noticeable since their board cultures are mostly the same, that's not the case on /a/.

/a/ is the only (major) board where the userbase is at least nominally against shitposting.
/a/ is the only board on this entire site where spoonfeeding is seen as a bad thing.

There are numerous other subtle and not so subtle differences between /a/ and rest of the major boards on this site.
>>
>>161473869
Crossboarding is fine as long as you don't make it obvious that you crossboard, and you adhere to the rules and environmental guidelines of the board. Really, it all boils down to lurking moar--which is quite possibly the largest problem of the website at large currently--so you can understand the culture of a board, its paradigms, and so on and so forth.

Unfortunately, the vast majority of obvious crossboarders are also obvious newfags who don't lurk, don't read any rules, don't attempt to integrate into a board's 'society', etc.
>>
I want Yotsuba back on the front page
>>
>>161473869
>Since most people on 4chan today have no interest whatsoever in "weeb" hobbies and only use this site because they like memes
fags on other board do consume anime entertainment on the side, but are rarely bother to discuss about it or come to /a/.
Because most of them are filled with new fags and their mods aren't as regulated as /a/, none of them know nothing of /a/ culture so they label /a/ as the most xenophobic board. leaving behind only fags who are interest in anime enough to join /a/ as migrants of another boards while /a/ itself hardly have any new fags from the start. Crossboarders are normal fags who practiced board's norms and they come over here while carrying virus from the other board.
>>
>>161470571

>>
Absolutely worse. "template threads" (read memes) are nothing but ways of presenting topics and there is literally nothing wrong with them. When you start banning specific "templates" people will just make new "templates" not "increase their post quality" whatever the fuck that means.
>>
It's done nothing but eliminate templates for the first post in a general. Now people have to be a little circumspect when creating their general threads, but everybody knows what general it is from the images. It's pretty useless like almost every attempt to regulate /a/ has always been.
>>
>>161472165

>>
>>161474882

Can you blame them? I still have scars from the gender wars and those fires still burn on a few boards to this day.
>>
>>161476114
I don't agree with them, no. A lot of it was forced "GG was about X because I said it was!" and drilling that down people's throats. Also, the notion that normalfags care more about fucking video games--the original point of the entire 'movement'--as opposed to leaked nudes of celebrities is absolutely asinine.
>>
>>161476069
I figure people are coming to 4chan just memes and not actual discussion and end up thinking shitposting the same tired memes over and over again is actual discussion. Memes are frosting and discussions are cake. Latter can exist without the former, and former by itself is just saccharine garbage.

I like the fact that some rules are just guidelines (like posting porn on blue boards) and how /a/ can understand this while other boards just bitched at how "/a/ is a tampered place by the mods where they do what they want", and no this wasn't that long ago since it was the case with nipple mod, even now there's just a chance to get banned if you don't spoiler your pic but if no one bitches chances are the mods let you be/don't care enough. The sticky just wants to put on paper some unwritten rules which are still guidelines for a better browsing experience.

If this has to be spelled out that means there are simply too many newfags who don't lurk. Almost half the users on 4chan currently came from the last year alone. Around two thirds from the past 3 years. Newfags (including crossboarders) don't give a fuck about the rules or the quality of discussion. They shitpost and are encouraged by all the other newfags who don't know any better or don't care enough to continue doing what they do.

>>161476398
4chan is an instant source of entertainment for a lot of people. It's like an edgier reddit for them. They don't give a single fuck to lurk when they can just shitpost from their phone and have other retarded newfags given their precious (You)s.

Oh I am fully aware. The average age of posters decreasing and becoming literally underage only worsens matters as well. No quality exists any more. Most posts are empty and lack substance. >>161476398
I blame /pol/, but not for the reasons most people think. /b/ used to scare people away and shit threads were easily derailed, but they're coddled in /pol/ by sympathetic staff.

As the notoriety grew, that became the gateway and newfriends learned how to behave from there. You see it spread to the more accommodating, less niche boards like /tv/ and /v/ on occasion.

I personally believe there's a direct correlation to this and the amount of frogposting. The more frogs, the worse the board.

Since this is /a/ there's also the usual share of dedicated shitposters so it's natural to arrive to your conclusion, the problem is and will always be how to deal with them, I personally tell them to lurk the fuck more but I've seen people tired to do the same and it kind of pains me.

Naruto is a gateway anime of the worst kind. It's a bad series, a clusterfuck of story and characterization that isn't very well done by any aspect, but which attempts to compensate for its weaknesses by adding in excessive shipping faggotry and DARKNESS. The normal anon can see this as the shit it is, and may enjoy it, hate it or be indifferent to it, but all the while recognizing that the series itself, regardless of their opinion, is plain bad.

However, these very aspects that try to smear over the shit of its core make it a breeding ground for aspie, unsociable underageb& faggots who engage in every kind of faggotry both online and in the real world. The superpowered characters all trying their hardest to look cool, the jutsus, peculiar, colorful clothes, the whole ninja faggotry and everything about the Naruto world fuels their escapist fantasies, while the pity-party character backgrounds, emphasis on revenge, and overall preachiness of the series make it fit just right with the mary-sueish drives of your average preteen and his sense of unwarranted self-importance towards the world. Exactly the kind of shit that makes little kiddies and underageb& retards eat this shit right the fuck up.

Naruto is basically THE series to attract the most hated anime fanbase known to /a/, which is why, regardless of individual opinions, it is the responsibility of every anon to troll the fuck out of this show and everyone who likes it, and ensure that no Naruto threads ever encourage the newfriends to show their faces here.

Read the whole thing seriously, it do makes sense.
>>

>>161478071
>Ban the person, don't ban the content
This. Phoneposters need to be dealt with somehow, possibly even with a complete rangeban of mobile networks of each popular ISP, which are usually distinct.

Also, make a cookie that is required to post on /a/ (e.g. if you don't have this cookie/cookie is too new, you cannot post on /a/) that tracks board posts. If a poster has posted on a board outside of /a/ in the last, say, hour (don't completely restrict crossposters, just those shitposting all over), make the system automatically and silently ban them. This will allow one to lurk other boards, but not post on them if they wish to post on /a/, and thus improve the quality of /a/ since crossposters will not be able to adhere. Clearing the cookie will result in being marked as "new" and unable to post on /a/ for a while.
