But she can basically instantly freeze people (as seen in episode 5). She definitely has a lot more feats than anyone other than Amanda, who at least managed to not get captured by the dragons and fight off the possessed armor with just her wand and a sword. TV Sucy has no feats.

Most of her spells can be used for combat. Like the time stop to prevent the accident from happening in episode 5 or even the transformation spell. As much as "transformation magic" is Akko's specialty, Diana literally mastered it. She also uses water, fire and lighting summoning in the novel.

Given how witches seem to be common knowledge and mainstream, even if they were dying out before the finale, I'd imagine a Templar sect could be possible but they would have to be low-key. Templars would actually be pretty interesting to see in season 2, if there is one.

The romance was fine, it helped explain Andrew's growth and his eventual approval of magic. Keep in mind that his entire life circled around how magic was bad. His father, who was very controlling, made sure to instill on him that magic has no place in society. This was only furthered by the people he surrounded himself with. It was only until Akko showed him that magic still had a place in society that he finally began to understand. The real problem is that Andrew ended up as an info dump the second half of the show.

No offense but as much as I like Andrew/Akko, they were only teased like for two episodes (I see it as a comedy gag) and after all is just friendship. The staff didn't went for the romance subplot after all.

The problem is just the pacing on the writing, that's why some side characters lost focus.

The development was fine considering the little screentime he got. Again, it makes sense when you consider his desire to break away from his father's control. You could see this with him playing the piano in episode 10. He was finally seeing the world with his own eyes. Also, Andrew's plot is not done, the political aspect of the worlds will be ever so important. He would be a good actor between political and Magic.

Maybe because Yoshinari wants to have male characters on the series. Andrew is a good boy after all.

But yeah, handling politics in a family series like LWA is complicated. They really need to give a lot of thought if they want to keep a believable subplot.
