I've finally come to the conclusion that I owe it to myself to read Oyasumi Punpun. What's the best way of going about this? Is the Hox Scanlations release good? Or should I look for a download of the officially licensed Viz Media version?

Thanks.

First book to last book, skipping only volumes divisible by 5. Try to maintain a right-to-left reading habit, except for text, which should be consumed in a more traditional left-to-right orientation.
Keep your head stable as you move only the eyes to follow the story from one side of the page to the other.

I recommend salted peanuts and green tea as sides. But others swear on doughnuts and hot chocolate. I haven't experimented much with those condiments, but they sound like a pain to keep available.

I'm obviously wondering which release/translation is the best, smartass.
>>
>>161027510
Why don't you look at them both and compare instead of asking the internet to spoonfeed you opinions? In the five minutes since this thread was made you could have done this yourself.

Sure, when I get home tonight I'll download the first chapter of the original Japanese and both English translations and see which I like better. Thought there might be an agreed-upon best release of the series, as there commonly is for anime subtitles, etc. There's tons of those threads posted – does each one of those trigger you too? Fuck off retard.

No there isn't. It only seems that way nowadays since Crunchyroll is the only subs available for 90% of shows. Moment you get two alternatives you'll see massive arguments to which is better.

Also, having to ask if Hox Scanlations is any good outs you as a massive newfag.

I don't really read that much manga.
>>
>>161027829
Neither do I. That's still no excuse, seeing that Hox has been regularly active here on /a/ for nearly what, a decade now?
>>
>>161027931
I don't really visit /a/ much either, or at least not in the last 5 years. I posted here because I saw he mentioned /a/ in his series write-up which seemed good.

Jesus fuck both of you are insufferable. Yes for fucks sake the Hox scanlation is good. Hox is hands down the best scanlator out there. His translation of Punpun is preferable to the Vis release in my opinion. The Vis translation is also perfectly readable and acceptable. If you can actually read moonrunes, of course read the original.

And there's your problem. /a/ is very hostile to giving advice to anyone who clearly doesn't know their stuff. It helps keep the riffraff out, at least to a degree. One of the main reasons we haven't fallen down the path of other boards like /v/ or /co/. Keep that in mind for the future.

But yes, Hox is an /a/ regular, probably the only respectable tripfag here, who really knows manga, literature and the Japanese language; his translations are likely some of the best you can get. He storytimes stuff he's translating here on a semi-regular basis.

Read Honey and Clover instead of this garbage.

I've read the Japanese version as well as the Hox translation, and I legitimately believe Hox tells the story better than Asano.

It's great imo.

This manga seems to be written by a depressed 13 years old boy
