What was good about Kimi no na wa. It was melodramatic schlock like everything else Shinkai directs, but started off with the premise of Freaky Friday, adding in some Steins;Gate bullshit halfway through, and the ending was just a complete mess.
KnK had better characters, better directing, and was at least a story that actually functioned. Kimi no na wa wrote itself into a corner and the disgrace that was the ending is proof of it.

I thought it was good, but mainly because they took a jumble of tired anime cliches and polished it really, really well. Could have been bad if anything had been different.
