It had many cool things, but it also had very many problems. It gave us Issho, Gear Fourth, the Tontata, Bartolomeo, God Usopp and Law's backstory, but at the same time it had Sabo shoehorned in, way too many new characters for its own good, Rebecca, Doflamingo being turned from a manipulative behind-the-scenes joker into a 10 feet tall brawler with an 8-pack, Bellamy returning for SOME reason and pretending to be Luffy's friend, and the most convoluted bullshit devil fruit in the form of Sugar to keep the whole mess together somehow.

What's wrong with him being both? Every other major player in the One Piece world has fighting capability as well, from the Worst Generation, to the Yonkou, to the Navy forces. One Piece is a battle manga, after all. And it isn't like it subtracted from his character anway, he's still the most fleshed out villain One Piece has had to date.

The characters who inhabit Skypiea don't get enough focus for me to care about them or even really know them, apart from Wyper at the very very end. And the arc is not filled with characters because it is long, it is long because it is filled with characters. But did anyone really care about Orlumbus? Diamante? The long leg guy? Were their inclusions worthwhile? The whole collosseum thing was stretched far too much.

I dislike Rebecca for being an annoying crybaby and utterly useless. Yes, she had a sad backstory, but that is not enough to make a character likable. Plus, her design is like a parody of itself.

Doflamingo went completely against what he was hyped up to be. Do you remember his frist introduction? His appearance on Jaya? Hell, even on Marineford, he was mostly just standing around, keeping Jozu in place or whatever, making a vice admiral slash up marines, all that jazz. He was a lean slouch who would sit on tables and manipulate from the back of the scenes. Then on dressrosa he would shoot strings like bullets and use fire whips. There was so much more potential to a puppet master character, but instead we got a fight we've already seen a bunch of times, without really being all that well-coreographed, and since Doflamingo barely took any damage from anything, none of the attacks felt satisfying in the end. Not to speak of that stupid ten minute cooldown phase.

And what other devil fruit works with some kind of oral contract? What does that have to do with being turned into toys? Because Oda needed some convenient explanation for Kyros to escape from the Donquichote family.
And why turn her into a little girl? Because like that Luffy would not fight her, I guess. Though here I can admit there is some coherence with the toy theme.
It is all way too convenient. I do not care wether it is realistic or logical or whatever, I care if it is coherent and well-designed. Sugar was designed to pick up all the lose ends of the plot, so a whole bunch of stuff was thrown onto her devil fruit that did not thematically fit, and in the end the pile was too big for me to suspend my disblief.

The characters who aren't important don't take up much page time at all though. Just in the examples you showed, that's evident. "Long leg guy" gets virtually no page time bc he's just cannon fodder needed to make the big battles look cool. It's all proprtional.

Her being useless is the most central part of her character tho. She's (believed to be) the last of a line of royals who have chosen peace for centuries, she promised her mother that she would never kill, her entire objective in life is stop someone from profitng from war and save the "soldier" who raised her. She's trained to fight, she wants to fight, but she stops herself from doing so. I can't see her "being useless" as a comaplint against her character.

Seriously, Fish-man arc is the only arc in One piece that i didn't enjoy. It was painfully obvious that is was there to be a showcase in how much stronger the crew got during the TS. I even stoped reading it weekly during the arc.

That's kinda sad, since i was looking forward to it since the crew got split up.

Rest of the arcs were all enjoyable with some flaws (Punk Hazard whould have been so much better if it wasn't for the "lol everything is fine in the end" ending).

Capone got some mad coolness boosts this arc. Basically shooting bullets from his palms and all that jazz, riding on tank gears, turning into a huge castle (even if it didn't do much, but that was against Big Mom, against less pirates it could have wiped the floor).

Killer and Bonney have yet to prove themselves, but I don't really like that Killer got so buff past-TS. He used to be some kind of speedster, and the aesthetic doesn't fit that.

About Apoo, I just really don't like his design, and while his fruit is cool, it seems pretty gimmicky in combat.

Considering they're setting up a lot of Blackbeard's crew to be like evil versions of the Strawhats, my guess is that the climax will be another great pirate war with the Strawhats + ally crews vs Blackbeard pirates + ally crews, with most of the main SH crew getting 1v1 or 2-3v2-3 fights.
