Second, I have to say that I really like this dragon maid anime. I didn't see all the episodes but I saw enough to determine that this stuff aint bad at all. It felt good watching their daily adventures.

It's a good, well-rounded show, but does not extremely succeed in anything. Animation is good, humor is good, but is not really very deep. There are lots of shows which are better in certain categories, but regardless it is a good show and worth watching to any SoL fan, but not mainstream viewers.

Especially given that the dad didn't leave on a happy note, he just shoots a last scathing comment back at them that dragons and humans living together can't work which really highlights the tension between him and his daughter rather than a quick fix and show of affection at the end. And he's right. The only reason the dragons have been able to coexist with humans in this world is by essentially giving up everything that makes them dragons. They stay in human form almost all the time, got human jobs, attend human school, eat human food, play human games, wear human clothes, and are even starting to have human sleep schedules. They aren't co-existing with humans, they're pretending to be humans.
