Asuka and Shinji are the best and most wholesome FRIENDship, because after EoE, the fact that they can finally relate to each other is a miracle in and of itself.

I can't say much more without spoiling it, but what Eva talks about for interpersonal communications, Automata tries to go into for intergroup problems.

Taro is definitely an Evafag, he's said his favorite anime is 2.22. Honestly, its kinda like you took the good parts of NGE, made them a bit wishy washy and replaced the bad bits of NGE with the bad bits of rebuild. There's signs of brilliance, but he needs a budget and not to rely on side content so fucking much.

The game feels like its going after the same kind of feeling as Evangelion, but its not as well put together as NGE is. Then again, NGE fits together because Anno got lucky.

If you play through NieR and Drakengard you'd probably realize how much of an improvement automata really was. They're both fantastic in their own ways but they're all over the fucking place, and not just narratively. Some of the grinding to get the lunar tear or max all weapons in the first NieR is korean levels of grinding.

If the subliminal montage is supposed to be the ONLY TRUTH that people have then no one would ever connect or relate with anyone. Misato would never have been with Kaji.

That sequence is specifically every bad emotion and feeling of rejection coming out all at once.
