Has anyone on /a/ ever tried drawing themselves/making an animation short?
How many of you would actually like to be part of this industry as something more than a consumer?

Of course I would like to, but I mean, it's practically impossible to do much of anything with anime in the west. The closest is something like Avatar, and that isn't saying much.
Not to mention, it's a shitty business to get into yourself. Like making video games.

Vidya has more than 2 orders of magnitude more money in it than animation. It's the largest entertainment industry, currently. Many indies make a good living

I would make a manga for shits and giggles if I knew how to draw.

Fair point on indies
I had major companies in mind, where it's usually not the greatest work ethic, hard to get into, and really make a name for yourself as an individual

I think that if my hobby became a job I'd end up hating it, so no, I'll stick to being a consumer.
>>160295046
Well you could do passion projects.
>>160294913
I have, sort of.
>>160295517
Well yeah, not saying you can't
I just took "be a part of this industry" as making something big that's impacting the industry.
I wanted to become a manga artist as a hobby.
But my parents cut my NEET umbilical cord and since drawing was my only skill now I draw furry and hentai for a living.

Hang in there, anon. Things will be getting better for you soon

Thank you, umr.
I've tried to make OP trace videos like the nips but drawing that many frames was a bitch so I never finished. Maybe someday, but animating really is terrible I can't image making something from scratch.

It could be worse

Post a sample. You've got to have unpublished stuff that won't make you identifiable via RIS
I have a few passion projects I'd like to make, but since I'm not actually Japanese I don't think they'd count as anime.
Anyway meanwhile I'm depressed and have no energy to do the actual drawing of frames which is the only thing stopping me.

I feel your pain, sadbro
>>160299439
do you draw too?
>>160294913
I'm much better at writing and (probably) directing than I am at drawing. That's why I became asoftware engineer.
