Most people seem to agree that the anime will go up to the end of Chapter 38, so with 13 episodes, that covers about 3 chapters per episode.
Chapter 18 is when the storm hits, so I suspect all the payoff for waiting will be in episode 6.

Only the mangafags were hyped for the adaptation and it's not really worth the hype so far, though they say the manga also started slow then picked up later, so we'll see. It's ironic that they call it AOTS because as of episode 3, it's not even top 5. Fate is better, the MAPPA shows are better, the two 4-koma shorts are better.

This part of the manga is forgettable, though that's not to say it's bad. It's just the prologue to the actual journey. The hype comes from the fact that it's this good already before getting to the important stuff. The sound and art are already some of the best this season as well.

Actually the manga took one entire volume before the departure too. so Vol.1 is now covered.

What i can tell is that IF they manage to squeeze 5 entire volumes into the season it will be golden and is going to feel complete and just fine.

If not it will be one big meh and a disappointment.
