Because the room is square.
Square tiles will align with at least two walls that corner each other and you only have to cut them to size for two sides if it doesn't match the room size perfectly. With hexagons you'd have to cut tiles for all sizes. Plus these tiny hexagon tiles on the wall look like suffering to place all of.
