As far as the "arc naming" goes, often the person named isn,t the center of the plot, and sometimes hardly relevent.

Mayoi Jiangshi has virtually nothing to actually do with hachikuji, shinobu time, while it has a flashback about her for plot purposes, is barely about shinobu. Yotsugi doll isn't really about yotsugi at all, and other then kickstarting the plot by hiring Kaiki, Hitagi end has nothing to do with senjougahara.

The titles are often misleading.

I've been reading through the beginning so far, only a few chapters in and its long (50 chapters) for a monogatari story. Super summarized so far.

First chapter is this girl, Harimase Kie, who just joined Naoetsu this year and is just having a miserable time and buckling under the japanese high school pressure. Can't handle the studies well enough, joined the basketball team, but isn't any good at that and can't live up to the team's (and Kanbaru and co's) legacy, so comes to hate that even more and just wants to escape everything to the point of mania. She starts wishing she could get hurt so she could get laid up for a while in a hospital, get excused from her eventual exams, and restart her school life. She gets to where she doesn't even care how, hoodlums jumping her from an alley, getting hit by a car, or even...getting fucked up by some monster out of a nightmare. Cue Deathtopia popping in with proper etiquette and Nishio puns and sucking her dry.

The next several chapters are Araragi getting dragged around a hospital and other places by Gaen, who, as usual, spends awhile manipulating and forcing him to resolve Deathtopia's attacks, which are creating failed ''''vampires'''' in the best(worst?) cases that are like dead-mummy-people, but still trapped in a living death state. The most prevalent target is/are girls from the Naoetsu basketball team.

She tells him that they can probably still save and restore the girls, though resolving the situation won't be easy. She's even calling in Kagenui, and RRRG knows she hates doing that, so he knows its serious. He caves in (like he knows he has no choice), but she sweetens the pot by swearing that,if he resolves this situation with/for her that she will dissapear from his life for his four years of college, and ensure that the other specialists and kaiis as is possible leave him be to live normally so he can have a happy college life and complete his studies.

From what I've glimpsed, a lot of people get screentime. Kanbaru of course during the investigation and given the targets. Mayoi, and I'm pretty sure Ononoki. Tons of Shinobu as would be expected. Araragi gets to meet and have conversation(s) with Acerola-hime from before she was Kiss-Shot. Senjougahara pops up in the epilogue as is her want and starts calling him Koyomin too, probably to piss him off cause I'd guess they're in their "troubled" period, though I don't know the precise timeline yet. Also, something about Araragi at Kanbaru's slumber pajama party with other JKs?

By the by, Deathtopia is golden eyed, golden haired like Shinobu. And pic related is her reaction to them coming face to face after 600 years.

From what I've seen yet so far, not in person. Araragi name drops her a couple of times though. Deathtopia leaves weird alphanumerical calling cards ("Dying messages...no wait, living messages." > re: RRRG) that a crux of the early story is Koyomi and crew solving.

It's like, transversing numbers into letters via phonepads, while some are still numbers, and others are letters disguised as numbers (B, becomes b, which becomes 6, same with Q = q = 9), and then on top of all that the answers are anagrams, so the random ass strings of letters and numbers need to be rearranged to even BEGIN to make sense. Eventually it becomes, among other things, a calling card [D/V/S] for Deathtopia-Virtuoso-SuicideMaster.

Araragi comments that Ougi would have loved unraveling the mystery of the code and the whole affair since that's kind of her jam when she's not making Arararararagi's life miserable.
