Think about it: heroines being in love with the MC are a dime a dozen. And it's pretty obvious that Ochaco and Deku are endgame.

But why does she have to be in love with him RIGHT NOW?

Shonen manga often have the heroine be a dick to the MC or just get flustered a ton because she has a crush. This usually happens on it's own.

Meanwhile, Ochaco and Deku were chill buddies in the beginning. It was only when Aoyama told her she had a crush that she started freaking out. Because now she's attributing all her admiration to a crush rather than it being admiration it its own right. And she decided that something being off about Kemi was her just being jealous.

Ochaco is freaking out because she's being shunted into the role of lovestruck heroine when she's a person with her own goals that require her to be an active character to achieve them. She doesn't want to orbit Deku's dick. She wants to become a super great hero and make lots of money so she can help her parents.

If she's going to actually fall in love, it's gotta be smooth with no pressure. And it has to develop on its own. And Ochaco has to chill out and do some real self-reflection before that can happen.

It takes a lot for me to drop a battle shounen, since they're just action/fantasy serials and you can digest them at your leisure without ever feeling necessarily compelled to do it. A lot of people make the mistake of assuming every story is about the plot and so they get hooked into what they assume is the typical process of your average story wherein you get to know the characters, you learn how the world works, you watch them deal with some problem and it ends with a message or revelation that enlightens you; it all comes together in the end and you feel satisfied; your brain rewards you for learning something.

That's not battle shounen. Battle shounen are more like Indiana Jones or Bruce Lee films. The story really doesn't matter, no matter how much you think it does, it's an illusion; the story is a canvas with which to draw people fighting and doing cool shit, and that's like 95% of it. The ending is never going to be satisfying, because it's not intended to reveal jackshit, it's intended to just be the marker where the author or editors decided to pull the plug. In this case, it really is the journey and not the destination. People misunderstand that and they become incredibly resentful to the series, or even the author, the editors or the entire demographic/genre, because the circle in their brain was never completed; and it wasn't completed because the author never set out to draw one to begin with, that was the reader's failed presumption.

So, there's a lot of battle shounen I never finished, but I wouldn't say I "dropped" them 'cause I feel like if I'm ever bored enough I can just go finish reading them.

That said, the only thing I know for sure would ruin this manga is if it became all about Deku trying to redeem Bakugou/Shigaraki, because that's what destroyed Hori's favorite series. So far, Hori seems very interested in satirizing or deconstructing things from Naruto, so I'd be really surprised if he went that route. And disappointed.
