Given what is shown in the OP, we pretty much have to get through volumes 4 and 5, unless they plan on ending with a cliff hanger in the middle off a volume that is essentially one huge climax.
One anon last in another thread mentioned that the manga is "over-illustrated", and while I don't like the term, I get what he meant.
A lot of volumes 4 and 5 are a fight. And while a fight in a manga might take up dozens of pages, it will only translate to a few minutes of animation.
I think they can get through the first 38 chapters without it feeling rushed. If you break it down and think about everything they have ti get through, and how much screen time it will take, you'll be left with at least 4 episodes for volumes 4 and 5, which feels like enough time when considering just how much of volume 5 is just a fight scene, save for the Prushka flashbacks and the ending.

Can't wait for when Reg and team reach the bottom of the abyss, only for Bondrewd to kill off Nanchi and make his glorious return once again. That would be a perfect explanation as to why he's so happy for them to go past him to further explore the abyss. He'll finally get to see it for himself.

The pacing will be fine. As an anon pointed out in the other, much more populated thread, many parts of the later chapters are drawn out over chapters. Things that would actually be happening pretty quickly, like Bondrewd's fight, span volumes, when in animated form, it'd probably be 3-4 episodes. Another anon mentioned that the anime was announced or began production when there was 39 chapters. Seeing as how Bondrewd's scientific progress ended on 38, we'll be fine for pacing if they go all the way to the end of Idofront.

It'll be fine. They condensed a lot of stuff already that was spread out through a bunch of chapters without ruining anything important. The first two layers go pretty quickly, so we shouldn't see them for more than 3 episodes. The third layer goes by extremely fast, though I can see it being padded because of a certain monster. The fourth layer also goes by pretty quickly if you think about it; its only Nanachi and the hedgehog. Most of that happens in the span of 2-3 days, so that shouldn't take more than two episodes. It'll probably be something like this, maybe with some better parts;

>Ep 4: Meet Ozen, cliffhanger on the box
>Ep 5: Ozen training camp, leave Forward Base

A good chunk of the dialogue and action in the 2nd - 4th layer happen in a very short time. The real action begins when they get to Idofront on the 5th layer. Not to say the Tamaugachi isn't a fucking awesome encounter, but its fight goes pretty fast in the second encounter.

We already knew for sure he was going to be showing up in flashbacks and such, as well as his ludicrously foreboding formal introduction. The appearance of the Idofront just as likely suggests it'll end right when they get to it as it does right after the ultimate battle with the Dawn Lord. Ideally, I think the best possible setup would be to end it right before or after Prushka's introduction and save most of v4 and the entirety of 5 for either OVAs or a movie. If that is indeed the case, and I admit it's not terribly likely, we'd better hope this thing sells because this fight is going to take some serious Redline budget to do it any justice.

Unless the dilation effect ramps up like crazy between the 5th and 6th layers, I don't think that this is the case judging by the sheer amount of tags that were coming down.

They're still 100 years away from the 2000 year cycle's end on the surface, and Orth is a fairly decently sized and dense city that there's probably a hefty number of people who die regularly to the dangers of the Abyss and now the Birthday disease.

It's possible that when they reach the bottom, the 2000 year cycle might come to an end up top, but I don't think they've spent long enough in the Abyss or are under a heavy enough dilation effect on the 6th layer for it to have happened already.
