Nekota had an interesting premise, but it was worse for this. The characters and plot were bogged down with relationship problems. Machako, Yukke and the pretty boy only became relevant in relation with their love interests and fucked off otherwise. Poor Machako was just something to laugh at until he was paired off with the only other background fodder.

And the tsundere girl's love triangle with FeMC was just trite. She was an alright character as well, but she just provided another obstacle in the main pair's relationship and she was unceremoniously paired off with the asshat boy anyway.

Seinen will always be the best romance genre. Yes it has shit like the harem genre which is fucking awful, but the vast majority of shoujo and josei are softcore harem already with introducing a plain boring girl then having multiple guys magically fall in love with her.

Seinen consistently introduces me to cute lovey dovey stories with either no drama or just enough drama to keep things interesting but still grounded in reality. Pic related and Fujiyama-san are my two most favorite romance anime/manga ever and they're both seinen.

The shithead was Suzume's uncle. It was his fault for driving Shishio to edge which resulted to him for breaking up with Suzume because of their circumstances. And this was never resolved 'til the ending of the manga and Suzume never found out why Shishio broke up her. Suddenly Mamura enters in the scene and gets like 5 chapters focused at him while Suzume still has conflicting feelings for sensei. Then all of a sudden, she apparently loves him now after going out a couple of weeks with him. It's pretty obvious that the author favored Shishio more considering 95% of the chapters were focused on him until the sudden attack of the rabid fangirls of the shitty tsundere and the popularity poll which resulted to Mamura ending. It's good. There's just this one/two character(s) that keep orbiting around the heroine and randomly running into her by "coincidence" and rehashing the exact same jealousy plot over and over. The author never moves the love triangle forward either. Finally after 60 chapters the main one confessed to her (in front of her boyfriend haha) and then the author ignores it (and continues to) with no resolution in sight.
He doesn't even appear that often it's just the not knowing when he'll strike is the worst.
