It's unclear what direction things will go as of the most recent chapter. The Straw Hats could feasibly just escape and Big Mom's children could be forced to deal with the fallout of her sickness coming up, teamed with trying to make the fleeing parties suffer. However, I find this less likely given the fact that Big Mom is raging in such a densely populated area, the Big Mom pirates are highly likely to be stuck dealing with her, as opposed to sending out committed revenge parties for any of the three escaping crews.

As such, I'm expecting the Straw Hats you mentioned to somehow end up also dealing with the Big Mom situation, be it as reluctant allies or forced helpers. Either is possible, depending on how they come to learn of the situation as, given their current relationship with Big Mom, it's unlikely they'd be all that willing to help. That would suggest that they'll either be forced or coerced into it, should that eventuality come to pass. Albeit there is some possibility that they'd look to help out due to the innocent parties at risk.

That way they could potentially 'deal' with Big Mom here and now, not through defeating her, but through her actions reducing her overall influence in the New World for the remainder of the series whilst also putting them in her good books, thus protecting them from direct or indirect repercussions for their earlier actions.

I think we've seen the extent of their emergency plan in her earlier food craving disease episode, essentially identifying what she's craving and evacuating anything in her path until such a food item can be found or produced and given to her. There really is little else that can be done, so I would imagine much of their efforts will go into desperately trying to stick to that plan.

The obvious problem with that is the nature of the food she wants this time around. She's clearly not going to be satisfied by anything less than a high quality cake with high quality ingredients. To not only procure them, but have to then create a whole wedding cake too is going to take a long amount of time under normal circumstances, let alone the current disarray that they're likely going through. The kitchens themselves appeared to be in the chateau, which are now likely forfeit due to Streusen's efforts to protect everyone.

As such, the current Big Mom pirates are going to have to stall Big Mom for as long as they possibly can, whilst evacuating citizens of WCI, to give enough time for the chefs to try and claw together what they can. Can that be achieved? It's unclear. If anyone could possibly produce a high quality cake in such a short time, it'll either be Streusen or, more likely in my eyes, Sanji as they're both the most accomplished chefs we currently know of. Pudding potentially too, given she's been shown to be good at cooking in her introduction.

I think next chapter will show the focus of the Big Mom pirates switching to complete focus on dealing with the Big Mom situation, given the way their pirate crew works. Brulee's mirror is obviously still an option that could be exploited, but I would imagine that Bege and the Straw Hats will be quick to check for such things, were they to return to their ships.

That's a really good point actually, I can't actually recall her getting to try it at all before it was destroyed so I suppose she doesn't have a concrete comparison to go by.

However, I think Big Mom's comment about Streusen's created food tasting bad, teamed with her comments about the quality of the ingredients she gathered are supposed to show that she's expecting a specific kind of cake, not just a simple sponge or low quality wedding cake. Perhaps they'll show the Big Mom pirates trying that next chapter though, hoping they can satiate her with any sort of cake most immediately available to them and it not working.

Or it could potentially work and calm her down, albeit I'm not too convinced simply from a narrative perspective, given her rage is supposed to be a pretty big deal given the context of the situation. It's not impossible, just highly unlikely in my mind.

It hasn't been resolved. If anything, Big Mom is going to be so mad, that she'll go after each and every named character who's a friend to the straw hats. Laboon? Nojiko? Makino? If Oda doesn't want to come off as a huge hack, all these people have to face Big Mom's wrath now. I'm expecting a chapter where each straw hat receives a box containing a head of a loved one, and that's their breaking point when they decide to fight BM.

What I find rather interesting about them is just how potentially strong or weak they could feasibly be. They have no need to be physically or combat capable, given their power seems to derive from political means. However, given their size and their seemingly major role in the World Government, it would make sense for them to be somewhat strong.

For now I'm going to think of them being relatively strong, given their size, but not excessively so. Not quite fodder but not major threats. The guy with a sword though, he could be a lot more capable than the others, though again I doubt they're any great threat.
