Well, by using the same seal system to cast normal jutsu as the Kote, Boruto is basically making a shortcut to more easily and efficiently cast simple elemental jutsu. That might be it. I remember that strange kinda semi-realistic vibe coming from naturo back then. Maybe it was my age and innocence, but things seemed believable to me. Sure, they were doing crazy things, but they were ninjas - mysterious people and masters of deception. So I just assumed they achieved their techniques by some degree of mind tricks and diversions that weren't fully explained by the author, and not by some chakra "magic" as it later on turned out to be.
OTOH you can't expect a weekly shonen series to work on anything but "magic", because who the fuck is going to write all of those carefully devised battles? I think I always knew that but turned a blind eye on it.

Okay, during the whole fight I couldn't help but notice this guy still need to work on his depiction of action. He has gotten better at conveying weight and movement compared to the first few chapters, but he still sucks at providing spatial reference. The entire chapter was a 1v1 but he makes the readers lose track of where Boruto was in relation to fatso all the time, and you also kind of forget the fact that this was all supposed to be happening in a closed space, until fatso got knocked outside by the rasengan. Pic related is an example of how a talented artist depicts movement flow and weight, whilst still providing the reader a sense of spatial ubiquity.

Why Boruto was specifically supposed to become friends with the Daimyo's son, why the Daimyo is introduced as someone who believes that ninja are reliable, and the allusion to someone manipulating things behind the scenes to expose the Kote. All of this starts to make sense if you hypothesize that Boruto fails.

I don't get what was so special about Sarada in Gaiden that made people like her so much. Most of Gaiden she was going through typical Uchiha faggotry angst and only showed some amount of promise when she punched the ground really hard at the end. Like her mother, she became a doormat for her father and forgave years of abandonment because he said sorry and poked her forehead, so any self-respect and dignity she may have had as a character was lost. Even people who hated both of these characters liked Salad from the Gaiden. It helps that she was the first to call out how fucking weird their relationship was before doing the same with Sasuke. No, she didn't forgive him. In the Boruto movie she straight up asks Bolt why anyone would care about "someone who couldn't even become hokage."

In general, though, Naruto's moralfaggotry combined with Sasuke's intelligence equaled a character that was easy to like.

Sumire's mark on her left hand as well as Boruto's one on his right are just looking exactly like they're somehow connected. Not them only but also Kawaki and other ones.
Plus the build up in the beginning is way to important. Them not mentioning Nue at some point despite it all playing in the same universe would be outright stupid. So yeah there's a chance for the anime characters to appear. I hope the anime character was ment to introduce them so it won't supirse us when they're getting into the manga.

Letting them not appear...would be suicide for both the manga and anime. But hey, there's Gaiden. So maybe they'll notice their popularity (especially Sumire's) and reintroduce them before they get into teams.
