Personal Theory: I think when All-Might believed he should take the burden as the symbol of peace and was fine with dying in a final battle because that's what a hero is meant to do - sacrifce themselves so others will be happy. He hated his weak form and wanted to be a hero for as long as possible. But from Izuku he learned that there was more to life then being a hero - he could teach the next generation and inspire others through a different way then through physical force.

So far, the heroes with the best motivations are Ochako and Iida because they seem tangible and real. Deku too, I guess, but although his motives are the purest, they are the hardest to obtain and rationalize.
