PA studio is like her home studio, her career started with them. She's not popular nor high-profile, she just have no life and can keep churning out scripts faster than anybody else.

With Trigger they got her only because she was known for her melodrama, and Trigger wanted to do something different. Of course it blew up in their faces because they trusted a hack.

I can see many of Okada's usual ideas in Lostorage, but the fact she wasn't around as Series Compositor was very noticeable. Even more there were several scenes in various episodes in which her dialogues would have fit the scenes very well. But that's only the story deparment problems. I think the main problem with Lostorage is the visual narrative aka as direction. You cannot compare the director from Steins;Gate from the guy who did Flying Witch, many aspects from Selector-era WIXOSS were lost because Lostorage's director is still getting more experience.

I think Hanasaku Iroha and Nagi no Asukara are masterpiece. I don't like AnoHana as much but I think its good.

It's obvious Okada is both director and series compositor in terms that she will have complete control about what she will write and she will face almost no restraints, no redrafts about her original intention about what story she wants to write. The narrative poetry, storyboarding, and cinematrography will be the job of Chief Director, it's complety obvious.

This will be the definitive test to verify if Mari 'MadWoman' Okada's absolute control of the story can yield high in terms of quality work compared to her other works in which she is restrained as fuck. Recent examples of this: Kiznaiver and Gundam Iron Blooded Orphans.

I'm mainly talking about the pretty blue landscapes and all the Shinkai-esque shots of the sky, which weren't really a thing a couple of years ago (although Shinkai was making them back then).

Just look at stuff like Summer Wars, or even Hosoda's mediocre last film, which actually had their own art direction.

Granted, there's still stuff like KnK which looks different enough, but the focus on shots of the blue-ish, purple-ish sky and grassy landscapes is indeed pretty Shinkai-esque.

Although you're right, this one does look different, I stand corrected. The Shaft one doesn't, though.
