To me it was clear this was a infiltration arc and not a fighting arc in disguise when Luffy struggled to beat Cracker with Nami's help. This wouldn't be a head-to-head fight numb nuts; Mom going on a rampage gives them the impetus they need to continue the fight against her crew. The only one who can throw that kind of power around is Big Mom, and she's mad as fuck, and bad shit keeps happening to her. Nope, it explains that I wasn't the person from the last thread who posted some laughable shit and got BTFO. I guess I shouldn't have counted on you to actually read the threads, or if you did, to understand the context within them.

You guys can memepost all you want, but I can't get over how well is Oda handling the Yonko saga. Think about it.

Yonkoare THE TOP in One Piece work. You can't write them as you would write a Shichibukai arc like Doffy's or Croc's. It'd make them feel weaker than announced. And he knows that the classic block-structure of
1. Kaido --> get to Kaido --> defeat Kaido
2. Big Mom --> get to BM --> defeat BM
etc.
would make the whole Yonko saga predictable and unbearable on the long run.

He's pointed out KiddxApooxHawkins ' target is Shanks, and then makes Kaido own them.
He knows Wano is going to be BIG, so, he's made Kaido the SHxHearts first target, while avoiding any direct contact (aside from the Zou skirmish).

By doing this he is able to (1) Subdivide BM's takedown iin two separate arcs, Whole Cake being merely a presentation for BMs crew; and (2) After the SHs take down Kaido they'll have to confront BM, which gives time to a recovered KiddxApooxHawkins alliance to corner Shanks and maybe give Blackbeard time to do his stuff freely.

Once you look at the big picture you start to realize why this series is so goddamn good.

It might have something to do with the fact that when Shanks lost his arms, the power levels in One Piece hadn't yet ballooned into what they are now. For all we know, hardening Haki wasn't even a thing back then. Now, power levels have inflated so Shanks can literally cut the skies in half. That's right they both break, luffy's awakening will make him so rubery that every attack will bounce right to the sender, that way the fist of both kaido and BM will be their own fall

With big mom it will be something he still can't control but against kaido he will have it mastered and it will

I'm fairly certain that Luffy can already perform such an ability whilst in Gear 4, given the inconsistent texture of his body during its use. He used that to defeat Cracker, who wasn't able to pierce through his Tankman defence and as a result was sucked in to Luffy's form and subsequently reflected back into his own biscuit soldiers.

The limiting factor appears to still be haki and Luffy is highly unlikely to be able to produce the same or stronger CoA haki than a Yonko for a good while yet, particularly when he's stretching it over his form in Gear 4, whilst the opponent would likely be striking with a much smaller surface area with which to coat.
