Yeah I can see the author taking the route of slowly turning him into a good gambler as observes Yumeko and Mary gamble, while also possibly getting involved in some of the matches they get into so that he can have better personal experience for himself on how to gamble. That is going to take a long time before we get into that point though if that is the direction he is going.

The latest arc, with him finally asking to join a match, seems to point to him growing a spine ever so slowly.

That would just be weird though. This manga isn't his story about he becomes a good gambler. Hell he literally has no connection to anyone in this arc while Yumeko obviously does. He barely has a character after 40 chapters, it'd feel like the author is shoehorning him in.

If he ends up becoming a gambler in the end, it'll be off-screen in the epilogue.Pretty much the only way it'd be make sense.

My point is that she didn't lost to her opponent's cheating. She had that in control. She lost because the president cheated from another room. The president wasn't the one she was playing against, so that was more than cheating. Like double cheating, you could say. That's why she lost.
