This. Nothing topped Simon stabbing the Spiral king in the chest and blowing him apart with his core drill. Something that simple felt so much more satisfying than the final battle in space (though I did like the fist fight in the second movie). Plus if it ended there, Simon would have gotten a happy ending.

No, Trigun is the best anime ever made

>tfw you love TTGL but realize they didn't solve the problem and still have no plan for dealing with Spiral Nemesis
Unless I'm completely mistaken and they've all come to terms with the inevitable heat death of the universe.
>>
>>159032991
It really does.
Especially the episode with Yoko as a teacher is just so fucking boring.
>>
>>159036012
Simon said the next generation would find a solution because that's the way the spiral turns.
>>
>>159036012
the anti-spirals predicted the inevitable spiral nemesis, but they also predicted that it would be impossible for the spirals to defeat the anti-spirals

this shows that the anti-spirals didn't know enough about spiral energy to predict the outcome.

Also, spiral energy is just another word for rising complexity. Everything strives to achieve a more complex state. Atoms forms molecules, rings of dust turns into planets. Maybe spiral nemesis is the natural fate of the universe. Maybe spiral nemesis results in something like a big crunch followed by a big bang. I think that would be preferable to heat death.

>>
>>159035375
People seem to love the genome fight but I thought it was anticlimatic as fuck and it also showed how grossly overpowered Gurren was.
For god's sake genome's own mech was technologically inferior to a robot laying somewhere in the desert, AND he lost through a cheap shot.
>>
>>159036578
Maybe everything just blow up and humanity will end up being one huge ocean of thoughts and memories like in TEOE. I dont think its bad way to die. Its not even death, just some kind of a reincarnarion.
>>
>>159036963
no everyone would still die, although it wouldn't be as drawn out as heat death, and there wouldn't be generations who spent their entire lives on space stations knowing that everything would only get worse as the universe itself was dying
>>
>>159036921
You seem to have missed the whole point.
Mechs themselves matter shit, they're only a vehicle to unleash spiral power.
>>
>>159032816
Kill la Kill was better.
>>
>>159037128
Then you'd think Genome's mech would be way more powerful do to having the most spiral power but it just kind of died after Simon tried to merge with it.

Watch more than 5 anime and I'm sure your thoughts will change you mongoloid
>>
>>159036012
I'm pretty sure that the basic groundwork for a solution was laid with Simon stepping aside. He could have taken things farther, but he let Nia go, let the next generation take over and vanished into obscurity. That's not the sort of rampant out of control growth described by the anti-spiral, but rather a steady progression of things.

Simon didn't end up going full spiral. That's why he only has 1 spiral eye.
>>
>>159037204
>do to having the most spiral power
But Simon won exactly because his spiral power surpassed Lordgenome's. He says so himself.

>>
>>159037404
Oh. I saw that as an explanation of how Simon's necklace put a gaping hole in his chest. I think the exact line was "your spiral power outstripped mine" which didn't really give me the feeling that Genome fought back, hence why I use the term "cheap shot".

Then again, I always thought Simon having the most spiral power wasn't really explained enough. He was just kind of deus ex'd it with Gurren.

I think maybe Trigger is letting the juniors be more involved with decision making in hopes of revitalizing the industry with younger people.

Animators back in the day didn't have seniors to follow so they pretty much paved much of the industry by themselves. Animators and juniors in today's industry has little to no chance in making a real name for themselves because established professionals still hog most of the limelight.

that's what I like to believe anyways. By Trigger encouraging the next generation by letting them take the reins while the seniors still have more authority over shit like major plot details then maybe the anime industry will see a resurgence of some sort
>>
>>159041214
KLK is excellent and didn't have any bad decision.
LWA is a mess and I don't think Yoshinari has any talent as a director sadly, but that's another matter.
>>159041011
>ad populum

>>
>>159036012
Spiral Nemesis was Simon. More specifically, the prologue guy.
>>
>>159042013
Not him but everytime I try to imagine liking KLK more than TTGL it just makes me cringe. TTGL had so many episodes that constantly kept you off guard. The animation was vastly superior and the soundtrack is more memorable.

Honestly, I don't remember a single moment in KLK where it actually threw me off guard and had some major plot reveal that wasn't Goofy and could be taken serious. I think the lightheartedness of KLK was to much. You about knew how every episode was going to play out.
>>
>>159042372
not to mention the edgy shit that started half way through KLK
>>
>>159032816
Shit shows need baits like these in order to inflate the number of replies. This single episode blows the entirety of TTGL without even trying.

That's a silly argument, like saying you can't take FLCL seriously because at face value is too wacky and out there with its premise.
And TTGL followed genres conventions and the hero's journey religiously, it was hardly ever unpredictable. That wasn't the main draw.
>>159042497
There was nothing edgy, you don't know what you're talking about.
>>
>>159042756
>it was hardly ever unpredictable
KLK didn't have single scene as big as certain characters death in TTGL. Literally nothing shocking happened the whole way through but the demise of her clothing companion. Which wasn't that great.
>>
>>159042845
I dunno, I thought satsuki flipping the script was pretty big.
>>
>>159042875
Once the mom came into the picture you knew the sisters were going to team up and win. And no one was going to get hurt.
>>
>>159042845
>as certain characters death
Which wasn't unpredictable in the slightest. The character was heavily based on Macross' Roy Fokker and Nadesico's Gai, both of which die in the early part of their series.
Death of the Mentor is also one of the staples of the Hero's Journey, which TTGL deliberately tried to adhere to as much as possible.
>>
>>159032816
This is literally true; I wish /m/ just accept it already.

TTGL was pretty much shit.
Anything it does there are dozens of anime that do it better.
I can't even describe how shit it is. I can't find a single redeeming factor.
I guess it's okay if you self-insert as Kamina and jerk off until the useless piece of shit dies.
>>
>>159042013
KLK is a tonally dissonant mess that couldn't structure an engaging plot if it's life depended on it. At least GL knew what it wanted to do and actually did it.
>>
>>159045563
does it actually make that sound when it glows or no
>>
>>159045988
KLK is far more tonally consistent than TTGL, whose first and last parts could easily belong to different series.
Finding the plot engaging or not depends on you, but the narrative has clear purposes and thematic integrity.
>>
>>159041316
And TTGL isn't?
>>
S1 was ok

S2 was complete shit and Simon is a little bitch loser. Also S2 drags on waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too long and the last few episodes are a cluster fuck that's I still can't comprehend. No I'm not asking you to explain the ending of TTGL. I just didn't give enough of a fuck to remember what happened.
